This thesis focuses on the design and optimization of a Sub-6 GHz Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) antenna array tailored for 5G New Radio base stations. The unique attributes of 5G technologies, such as reduced latency, improved energy efficiency, increased connection density, and higher peak data rates, come hand in hand with the concepts of network densification, bandwidth enhancement, and spectral efficiency improvement. MIMO techniques, involving multiple antennas for diversity or multiplexing, further amplify the potential of 5G systems. The primary objective is to design and optimize a MIMO antenna array operating at the n78 band (3.3 - 3.8 GHz), which is designated for 5G applications in Europe. The research encompasses antenna array design, radiation pattern synthesis, performance optimization through simulations, prototype development, and comprehensive performance evaluation. The study targets an 84 antenna array configuration, exploring element number, spacing, and array geometry.
