Controlled assemble and microfabrication of zeolite particles on SiO2 substrates for potential biosensor applications
Öztürk, Semra; Turan, Raşit; Akata Kurç, Burcu (2008-12-04)
Zeolite nanoparticles were organized into functional entities on SiO2 substrates and microfabrication technique was tested to form patterns of zeolite nanoparticles on SiO2 using the electron beam lithography (EBL). The effect of different techniques for efficient zeolite assembly on the SiO2 substrates was investigated. For this purpose, three different assembly techniques were tested. The first two methods are spin-coating (SC) and ultrasound aided strong agitation (US) methods, which were tested using ba...
Experimental and computational study of the damage process in CFRP composite beams under low-velocity impact
Topac, O. Tanay; Gözlüklü, Burak; Gürses, Ercan; Çöker, Demirkan (2017-01-01)
Damage process in composites subjected to low-velocity impact is investigated both experimentally and numerically. Drop-weight impact experiments are carried out, in which a model unidirectional [0(5)/90(3)](s) CFRP laminate beam is impacted by a cylindrical head creating an almost uniform two-dimensional loading condition. Initiation and progression of damage, consisting of matrix cracks and delamination, are visualized in real-time via ultra-high-speed camera at rates up to 60,000 fps and the sequence of ...
Covariance Matrix Estimation of Texture Correlated Compound-Gaussian Vectors for Adaptive Radar Detection
Candan, Çağatay; Pascal, Frederic (2022-01-01)
Covariance matrix estimation of compound-Gaussian vectors with texture-correlation (spatial correlation for the adaptive radar detectors) is examined. The texture parameters are treated as hidden random parameters whose statistical description is given by a Markov chain. States of the chain represent the value of texture coefficient and the transition probabilities establish the correlation in the texture sequence. An Expectation-Maximization (EM) method based covariance matrix estimation solution is given ...
Performance of discrete dipole approximation for prediction of amplitude and phase of electromagnetic scattering by particles
Ayranci, Isil; Vaillon, Rodolphe; Selçuk, Nevin (2007-01-01)
Electromagnetic scattering provides useful signatures for nonintrusive particle characterization. Scattered wave which carries characteristic information about particles is identified completely by its intensity, polarization state and phase. Recent developments in measurement techniques have enabled measurement of phase of the scattered wave which is a source of additional information about particles. In the present study, accuracy of discrete dipole approximation (DDA) in predicting amplitude and phase of...
Applications of estimation techniques on genetic and other types of data
Aslan, Murat; Akkaya, Ayşen; Department of Statistics (2003)
The parameters of genetic and other types of data, particularly with small samples, are estimated by using method of moments, least squares, minimum chi- square, maximum likelihood and modified maximum likelihood estimation methods. These methods are also compared in terms of their efficiencies and robustness property.
