Controlled release of aldicarb from lignin loaded ionotropic hydrogel microspheres
Kok, FN; Wilkins, RM; Cain, RB; Arica, MY; Alaeddinoglu, G; Hasırcı, Vasıf Nejat (1999-09-01)
Aldicarb loaded microspheres of carboxymethyl cellulose, CMC, of various compositions were prepared with the crosslinking action of AI(III). Into these microspheres, lignin was introduced as a filler to further regulate the rate of release. The encapsulation efficiency was low (4.15-13.00%) due to the high water solubility of aldicarb. Release into aqueous media was quite rapid and almost complete within 24h. Initial stages of the release (60% of AS released) was investigated to determine the release mechan...
Controlled release of aldicarb from carboxymethyl cellulose microspheres: in vitro and field applications
Kok, FN; Arica, MY; Gencer, O; Abak, Kazım; Hasırcı, Vasıf Nejat (1999-12-01)
Aldicarb is a carbamate pesticide that is widely used throughout the world in the protection Of crops (eg cotton, nuts, potatoes, onion, tobacco, sugar beet and sugar cane). In Turkey, especially in the Cukurova region, it is used for the control of the cotton white fly (Bemisia tabaci) which attacks cotton plants cultivated in this region. Aldicarb contamination in surface and ground water is a serious problem in several countries, partly due to its high water solubility. It is also highly toxic to mammals...
Measurement of the t(t)over-bar production cross section in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV in dilepton final states containing a tau
Chatrchyan, S.; et. al. (2012-06-01)
The top quark pair production cross section is measured in dilepton events with one electron or muon, and one hadronically decaying tau lepton from the decay t (t) over bar -> (l nu(l))((sic)(h)nu((sic)))b (b) over bar, (l = e, mu). The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 2.0 fb(-1) for the electron channel and 2.2 fb(-1) for the muon channel, collected by the CMS detector at the LHC. This is the first measurement of the t (t) over bar cross section explicitly including tau leptons in pro...
Prolonged cytotoxic effect of colchicine released from biodegradable microspheres
Muvaffak, A; Gurhan, I; Hasırcı, Nesrin (2004-11-15)
One the main problems of cancer chemotherapy is the unwanted damage to normal cells caused by the high toxicities of anticancer drugs. Any system of controlled drug delivery that would reduce the total amount of drug required, and thus reduce the side effects, would potentially help to improve chemotherapy. In this respect, biodegradable gelatin microspheres were prepared by water/oil emulsion polymerization and by crosslinking with glutaraldehyde (GTA) as the drug-carrier system. Microspheres were loaded w...
Hierarchical multitasking control of discrete event systems: Computation of projections and maximal permissiveness
Schmidt, Klaus Verner; Cury, José E.r. (null; 2010-12-01)
This paper extends previous results on the hierarchical and decentralized control of multitasking discrete event systems (MTDES). Colored observers, a generalization of the observer property, together with local control consistency, allow to derive sufficient conditions for synthesizing modular and hierarchical control that are both strongly nonblocking (SNB) and maximally permissive. A polynomial procedure to verify if a projection fulfills the above properties is proposed and in the case they fail for a g...
