This paper analytically examines the stresses occurring on a functionally graded polar orthotropic variable thickness disk within the elastic region. The disk geometry is assembled on a solid rigid inclusion which is rotating with time dependent periodic angular velocity. Two different material grading parameters, which belong to Young’s modulus and density, one orthotropy parameter which comes from the ratio of tangential and radial Young’s modulus variations, and one geometric parameter due to the variable thickness profile of the disk have been taken into account. Based on these parameters, changes occurring in the directional stress and radial displacement fields have been comprehensively analyzed. Additionally, the effect of different angular velocity function implementations on the stresses and displacement and future design possibilities have been discussed shortly.
