High temperature corrosion of steels used in petroleum refinery heaters
Sultan, Abdelrahman; Karakaya, İshak; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2005)
The oxidation of three different steels used in the construction of petroleum refineryheaters was investigated by using thermogravimetric analysis technique (TGA). C-5,P-11, and P-22 steel samples were tested in two different oxidizing environments; air and CO2+N2+H2O (that simulates the combustion products of natural gas) at two different temperatures; 450oC and 500oC. In air oxidation P-22 had the best oxidation resistance among the three steels at two temperatures. In CO2+N2+H2O environment,C-5 possessed...
High pressure TGA analysis of crude oils
Kök, Mustafa Verşan; Price, Dennis (1996-06-01)
A high pressure thermogravimetric analyser (HPTGA) has been used to explore the effect of total pressure (100, 200 and 300 psig) on the combustion behaviour and kinetics of crude oils. In combustion with air, three different reaction regions were identified, known as low-temperature oxidation, fuel deposition and high temperature oxidation. The Coats and Redfern procedure was applied to determine the kinetic parameters of the crude oils studied.

Low temperature absorption edge and photoluminescence study in TlIn(Se1-xSx)(2) layered mixed crystals
Hasanlı, Nızamı (2018-02-01)
Transmission on TlIn(Se1-xSx)(2) mixed crystals (0.25 <= x <= 1) were carried out in the 400-800 nm wavelength range at T = 10 K. Band gap energies of the studied crystals were obtained using the derivative spectra of transmittance. The compositional dependence of direct band gap energy at T = 10 K revealed that as sulfur composition is increased in the mixed crystals, the direct band gap energy rises from 2.26 eV (x = 0.25) to 2.56 eV (x = 1).
