A study of wet oxidized A1(x)Ga(1-x)As for integrated optics
Bek, Alpan; Champlain, JG; Naone, R (1999-04-01)
An investigation of wet oxidized Al-x Ga1-xAs layers in integrated optical applications is reported, Refractive index and thickness shrinkage of wet oxidized AI(x)Ga(1-x)As layers are measured using spectroscopic ellipsometry, A Cauchy fit to the refractive index is found in the wavelength range between 0.3 and 1.6 mu m. The refractive index at 1.55 mu m is found to be 1.66+/-0.01 with little dispersion around 1.55 mu m. Very low loss single-mode waveguides with metal electrodes showing very low polarizatio...
A Comparative Study of Effects of Additive Particle Size and Content on Wetting Behavior and Brazing Performance of C/SiC Composite
Saltik, Simge; ESEN, ZİYA; Dericioğlu, Arcan Fehmi (2022-10-01)
This study has focused on the influence of size and content of SiC particle incorporation on the wetting behavior of the Ticusil brazing filler alloy and on its brazing performance in C/SiC composite/Ti6Al4V alloy joints. The effect of the size and content of additive SiC particles on the variation of molten brazing filler alloy contact angle was recorded at various brazing time and temperatures. Moreover, the microstructural evolution and mechanical properties of the additive containing C/SiC composite/Ti6...
A study of steam-assisted gravity drainage performance in the presence of noncondensable gases
Canbolat, Serhat; Akın, Serhat; Kovscek, Anthony R. (null; 2002-12-01)
Traditionally, the addition of a non-condensable gas to steam is known to have a beneficial effect on heavy-oil production when conventional vertical wells are used. Little information and experimental evidence exists regarding the effect of the addition of such gases in the steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) process. The limited literature suggests that the addition of small amounts of such gases (e.g., carbon dioxide) may improve oil recovery. The gas accumulates at the top of the reservoir and provid...
