Yıldırım Yavuz

Yıldırım Yavuz was born in 1939. He completed his undergraduate and graduate studies in architecture at METU. He received his second master's degree in architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. He taught architectural design and history at METU from 1962 to 1982 and served as the Dean of METU Faculty of Architecture. Between 1982 and 1988, he taught design and architectural history at Damman University and Faisal University in Saudi Arabia. He worked as assistant dean at the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture at Bilkent University between 1988 and 1997. He took part in many national committees on cultural affairs and architecture. He served as a consultant in the Building Identity Inventory Project carried out by the Chamber of Architects Ankara Branch. He became a jury member in many competitions. He conducted research focusing on the architectural history of the 19th and 20th centuries. He wrote the book "Architect Kemalettin from Empire to Republic" published by the Chamber of Architects. He made presentations and published articles on the subjects of "Architecture of the Republican Era", "Atatürk and Modernity".
