The effects of metallic catalysts on light crude oil oxidation in limestone medium
Celebioglu, D; Bağcı, Ali Suat (2002-08-20)
In this study, 28 experiments were performed to study the effects of metallic additives on light crude oil oxidation in limestone medium. Karakus and Beykan crude oils from Turkish oil fields were used. The metallic additives were ferric chloride (FeCl3) copper chloride (CuCl) and magnesium chloride (MgCl(2)(.)6H(2)O). The mixture of aqueous solutions of three metallic salts with limestone and the crude oils was subjected to a controlled heating schedule under a constant flow rate of air. The produced gas w...
The effects of gums on macro and micro-structure of breads baked in different ovens
Ozkoc, Semin Ozge; Şümnü, Servet Gülüm; Şahin, Serpil (Elsevier BV, 2009-12-01)
In this study, the effects of gums on macro and micro-structure of breads baked in different ovens (infrared (IR)-microwave combination and conventional) were investigated by the help of image and SEM analysis, respectively. The gums used were xanthan, guar, K-carrageenan and xanthan-guar blend. The gums were added to the formulation at 0.5% concentration. As a control, no gum added formulations were used. Results of Image analysis demonstrated that xanthan-guar gum blend addition improved bread quality wit...
The effects of microbial lignocellulose pretreatments on xylooligosaccharide production
Uckun, E.; Ak, O.; Bakir, U. (Elsevier BV, 2009-09-01)
Lignocellulosic agricultural waste materials are produced in huge amounts in the world and regarded as abundant, inexpensive readily available natural sources for various industries. They are mainly composed of three types of macromolecules, cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin. Cellulose and hemicellulose are converted to a variety of valuable compounds such as enzymes, hormones, antibiotics, ethanol, sugar alcohols, organic acids and xylooligosaccharides (XOs) using bioprocessing methods easily after the r...
