Genome-wide variation analysis of formalin fixed paraffin embedded pulmonary metastatic tumor samples of osteosarcoma patients
Nil, Zelha; Gündüz, Ufuk; Department of Biology (2012)
Osteosarcoma (OS) is a type of cancer that starts in the bone. It generally occurs in the cells called osteoblasts which form matrix of the bone. It is the most common malignant tumor of bone with an incidence rate of 19% among all cancer types. The vast majority of OS patients have pulmonary metastases at the time they are diagnosed, and about half develop lung disease later. Moreover, pulmonary metastatic tumors lead to poor prognosis and increased death rate. Although mutations in the genes coding for p5...

Analysis of structural glazing systems
Vallabhan, CVG; Aşık, Mehmet Zülfü; Kandil, K (1997-10-01)
Exterior glazing has been popular in commercial buildings especially in multistory buildings; the glass panels are bonded to the exterior of the building by silicone sealants. Thus, the glazing is identified as ''structural glazing''. Of all the structural glazing systems, the four sided support system is the most critical one. As the glass panels are designed to withstand lateral wind pressures, and when the lateral deflection of the panels increases more than its thickness, the glass plates behave nonline...

Efficiency in Turkish agriculture : a farm houshold level analysis
Dudu, Hasan; Çakmak, Erol; Department of Economics (2005)
This thesis analyzes the efficiency structure of Turkish agriculture in farm household level by using various models of stochastic frontier analysis. A household level survey conducted in 2002 and 2004 is used in the analysis. Firstly, an efficient production frontier is estimated by a panel data models. By using these estimates, relative importance of production factors and their interaction with various farm specific factors are inspected. The parameters of production frontier show that agricultural produ...
