An antology - driven video annotation and retrieval system
Demirdizen, Goncagül; Çiçekli, Fehime Nihan; Department of Computer Engineering (2010)
In this thesis, a system, called Ontology-Driven Video Annotation and Retrieval System (OntoVARS) is developed in order to provide a video management system which is used for ontology-driven semantic content annotation and querying. The proposed system is based on MPEG-7 ontology which provides interoperability and common communication platform with other MPEG-7 ontology compatible systems. The Rhizomik MPEG-7 ontology is used as the core ontology and domain specific ontologies are integrated to the core on...
IMPROVED PREDICTION FOR LAYERED PREDICTIVE ANIMATED MESH COMPRESSION
Bici, M. Oguz; Akar, Gözde (2010-09-29)
In this paper, we deal with layered predictive compression of animated meshes represented by series of 3D static meshes with same connectivity. We propose two schemes to improve the prediction. First improvement is using weighted spatial prediction rather than averaging neighbor vertices. The second improvement is a novel predictor based on rotation angle of incident triangles in current and previous frames. The experimental results show that around 6- 10 % bitrate reduction can be achieved by replacing the...
A rule-based method for object segmentation in video sequences
Alatan, Abdullah Aydın; Onural, L (1997-01-01)
Object segmentation and tracking are problems within the scope of MPEG-4 and MPEG-7 standardization activities. A novel algorithm for both object segmentation and tracking is presented. The algorithm fuses motion, color, and accumulated previous segmentation data at 'region level', in contrast to conventional 'pixel level' approaches. The information fusion is achieved by a rule-based region processing unit which intelligently utilizes the motion information to locate the objects in the scene, the color inf...
Multiple Description Coding of 3D Dynamic Meshes Based on Temporal Subsampling
Bici, M. Oguz; Akar, Gözde (2010-01-21)
In this paper, we propose a Multiple Description Coding (MDC) method for reliable transmission of compressed time consistent 3D dynamic meshes. It trades off reconstruction quality for error resilience to provide the best expected reconstruction of 3D mesh sequence at the decoder side. The method is based on partitioning the mesh frames into two sets by temporal subsampling and encoding each set independently by a 3D dynamic mesh coder. The encoded independent bitstreams or so-called descriptions are transm...
A scalable multi view audiovisual entertainment framework with content aware distribution
Ekmekçioğlu, Erhan; Günel Kılıç, Banu; Dissanayake, Maheshi; Worral, Stewart; Kondoz, Ahmet (2010-09-29)
Delivery of 3D immersive entertainment to the home remains a highly challenging problem due to the large amount of data involved, and the need to support a wide variety of different displays. Support of such displays may require different numbers of views, delivered over time varying networks. This requires a delivery scheme featuring scalable compression to adapt to varying network conditions, and error resiliency to overcome disturbing losses in the 3D perception. Audio and video attention models can be u...
