Determination of bismuth using on-line preconcentration by trapping on resistively heated W coil and hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometry
Cankur, O; Ertas, N; Ataman, Osman Yavuz (2002-01-01)
A novel analytical system was developed to trap and preconcentrate bismuth from the vapour phase stream. Bismuthine formed by sodium tetrahydroborate reduction was trapped on a tungsten coil previously heated to 270 degreesC. The analyte species were re-volatilised by increasing the coil temperature to 1200 degreesC and then transported to an externally heated silica T-tube by using a mixture of argon and hydrogen as the carrier gas. The base width of the transient signal was less than 0.5 s. The reproducib...

Determination of cadmium in high salt content matrices by flow injection cold vapor atomic absorption spectrometry
Alp, Orkun; Demiroz, Hakan; Ataman, Osman Yavuz; ERTAŞ, Nusret (2012-01-01)
Flow injection cold vapor atomic absorption spectrometry (FI-CVAAS) was used for determination of cadmium in high salt matrices such as dialysis concentrates and textile leach solutions. The parameters such as acidity, concentration of reducing agent, reaction coil length, and carrier gas flow rate were investigated to obtain the best sensitivity. No significant background signal was observed even at high salt concentrations. Under the optimized conditions the limit of detection value (3s(b) m(-1), where s(...

An electrically heated tungsten coil was used as a trap in the determination of antimony. The technique consists of three steps. Initially, SbH(3) is formed by hydride generation procedure; then the analyte species in vapor form are transported to W-coil trap heated at 370 degrees C. Following the preconcentration step, the trap is heated to 895 degrees C; analyte species are revolatilized and transported to the flame-heated quartz atom cell where atornization and the formation of signal take place. The exp...
Determination of silver by chemical vapour generation and atomic absoption spectrometry
Öztürk, Çağla Pınar; Ataman, Osman Yavuz; Department of Chemistry (2004)
A method for determination of silver has been developed based on chemical vapour generation atomic absorption spectrometry (CVGAAS). Volatile species of silver in acidified medium were generated by the reduction of sodium tetrahydroborate; these species were sent to a flame-heated quartz tube atomizer (QTA) following isolation by using a gas-liquid separator. Flow injection (FI) was used for sample introduction. Optimization of parameters such as; concentrations of acid and NaBH4 concentration, flow rates o...
