An optimization study for rotorcraft avionics bay cooling
Akin, Altug; Kahveci, Harika Senem (2019-07-01)
In this paper, a computational investigation of a rotorcraft avionics-bay cooling system is carried out. The introduced avionics cooling system utilizes a forced-convection method in which the ambient air is supplied to the avionics bay by a fan and then exhausted back into the ambient after cooling the equipment inside. The aim of this system is to keep the air temperature in the vicinity of the avionics equipment below the operational temperature limits. Depending on the locations of the fan and exhaust, ...
A performance study on real-time IP multicasting
Demirci, T; Bilgen, Semih (2003-07-03)
In this paper we investigate the performance of Internet Group Management Protocol version 3 (IGMPv3) and Real Time Transport Protocol (RTP) for various scenarios. For this purpose, a network simulator is developed using C++. As it is important to evaluate protocol performances under realistic conditions, the simulation models and network traffic models that are used in the simulations are developed to reflect real life behavior. The simulation models are verified and the performance results obtained are co...
AN EXPLORATORY STUDY ON COMPLEXITY IN MEGA CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS
Bilgin, Gizem; Dikmen Toker, İrem; Birgönül, Mustafa Talat; Department of Civil Engineering (2021-4)
Megaprojects are known as complex projects that involve high levels of uncertainty. This thesis aims to explore perceived complexity in mega construction projects by lived experiences of project managers. For this purpose, data were obtained through semi-structured interviews with 18 participants from 11 mega construction projects carried out by construction professionals. The data was processed with a grounded theory approach and analyzed using the QSR NVivo qualitative data analysis software. Findings sho...
An Experimental Study on the Cumulative Damage Development of Rubble Mound Structures
Şimşek, Kemal Cihan; Baykal, Cüneyt; Ergin, Ayşen; Güler, Işıkhan (2014-06-20)
For the purpose of investigating two-dimensional (2D) performance of the designed cross-sections of rubble mound coastal defense structures planned to be constructed at different coastal regions of Turkey, several physical model experiments were carried out in the Ocean Engineering Research Center, Department of Civil Engineering, Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey. This study presents the comparisons of results of cumulative damage performance of five different crosssections of rubble mound c...
