Properties of Al2O3: nc-Si nanostructures formed by implantation of silicon ions into sapphire and amorphous films of aluminum oxide
Tetelbaum, D. I.; Mikhaylov, A. N.; Belov, A. I.; Ershov, A. V.; Pitirimova, E. A.; Plankina, S. M.; Smirnov, V. N.; Kovalev, A. I.; Turan, Raşit; Yerci, Selçuk; Finstad, T. G.; FOSS, SEAN (2009-02-01)
Photoluminescence, infrared Fourier spectroscopy, Raman scattering, transmission electron microscopy, and electron diffraction were used to study the luminescent, optical, and structural properties of aluminum oxide layers (sapphire and films of Al2O3 deposited on silicon) implanted with Si+ to produce silicon nanocrystals. It is established that, in both cases, a high-temperature annealing of heavily implanted samples brings about the formation of silicon nanocrystals. However, the luminescent properties o...
Properties of blended cements with thermally activated kaolin
Arikan, Metin; Sobolev, Konstantin; Ertuen, Tomris; Yeginobali, Asim; Turker, Pelin (Elsevier BV, 2009-01-01)
Kaolin, one of the materials of major importance for the ceramic and paper industry, is also used in the construction industry as a raw material for the production of white cement clinker and, in the form of metakaolin, as an artificial pozzolanic additive for concrete. Metakaolin is a vital component of high-performance and architectural concrete; however, its application in regular concrete is very limited due to relatively high production costs. This report evaluates the performance of a low-cost metakao...
Properties and Phase Segregation of Crosslinked PCL-Based Polyurethanes
Guney, Aysun; Hasırcı, Nesrin (2014-01-05)
Polyurethane (PU) films were prepared from different types of poly(e-caprolactone) glycols and hexamethylene diisocyanate without using any other ingredients such as solvent, catalyst, or chain extender. Polymers were stabilized by crosslinking formed as allophanate and/or biuret linkages during the curing process. The effects of different components on the product properties such as chemical structure, microphase segregation, mechanical strength, thermo-mechanical, thermal properties, and surface hydrophil...
Properties of light emitting diodes following cobalt-60 irridiation
Özcan, Şafak; Günal, İbrahim; Department of Physics (2004)
The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of gamma radiation on the properties of the light emitting diodes. GaP and GaAsP LEDs are used in the study. It is observed that the exposure of a light emitting diode affects its various properties. A cobalt-60 gamma-cell is used to irradiate the selected light emitting diodes. For the different total doses of gamma pre-irradiation and post-irradiation I-V characteristics and spectral responses are recorded. The capacitance characteristics are me...
