A New approach for distributed amplifier design
Yılmaz, İsmail Gökhan; Koç, Seyit Sencer; Demir, Şimşek; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2012)
In this thesis work, a new distributed amplifier topology is discussed and applied to three different cases. The topology is based on dividing the frequency spectrum into channels and amplifying afterwards. The channelized and amplified signals are then combined at the output for broadband amplification. This topology is used in the design of a three channel 0.1-1 GHz amplifier with a gain of 14.5±0.6 dB. The design is fabricated, and then the measured and simulated results are compared. A second 0.1-1 GHz ...
A New Design Approach for Rapid Evaluation of Structural Modifications Using Neural Networks
Demirkan, O.; Olceroglu, E.; BAŞDOĞAN, FATMA İPEK; Özgüven, Hasan Nevzat (2013-02-01)
Design optimization of structural systems is often iterative, time consuming and is limited by the knowledge of the designer. For that reason, a rapid design optimization scheme is desirable to avoid such problems. This paper presents and integrates two design methodologies for efficient conceptual design of structural systems involving computationally intensive analysis. The first design methodology used in this paper is structural modification technique (SMT). The SMT utilizes the frequency response funct...
A new approach in assessing slurry filterability
Yukseler, Hande; Tosun, İsmail; Yetiş, Ülkü (2007-10-15)
Up to date, sludge filterability has been characterized by the Ruth's classical filtration theory and quantified by the well-known parameter specific cake resistance (SCR). However, the complexity of the actual phenomenon is clearly underestimated by the classical filtration theory and SCR is often not satisfactory in describing filterability. Although many scientific studies were conducted for a better analysis and understanding of the filtration theory, still a practically applicable solution to replace t...

A new algorithm and computation approach for economic dispatch with prohibited operating zones in power systems
Cetinkaya, N; Urkmez, A; Erkmen, İsmet; Yalcinoz, T (2005-01-01)
This paper presents a new algorithm and computation approach to solve the economic load dispatch (ELD) in electrical power systems. We applied a new power formula to solve the LLD problem. If production units cost Curves are represented property then ELD becomes More Correct. In this respect we assumed that production units have prohibited operating zones. Cost curves of the production units are generally accepted as piece-wise quadratic function. The power production is cheaper since we do not use the prod...
