Porewater redox species and processes in the Black Sea sediments
Konovalov, Sergey K.; Luther, George W.; Yücel, Mustafa (2007-11-15)
During the 2003 KNORR and the 2005 ENDEAVOR cruises to the Black Sea, voltammetric solid-state microelectrode data were collected for the vertical distribution of redox species in porewaters from the upper 200 to 300 mm layer of sediments with nun vertical resolution. We discuss vertical distributions of dissolved sulfide, manganese and iron species in sediments from the oxic, suboxic, anoxic/sulfidic parts of the Black Sea. Results of voltammetric profiling demonstrate many processes governing the porewate...

Stream daylighting: An operative landscape infrastructure for Ankara
İdali Özden, Özge; Barlas, Adnan; Baş Bütüner, Funda; Urban Design (2020-9)
While politicians prefer to make investments on visible projects, sanitary and ecological infrastructure projects are not generally preferred or postponed due to their long-term results. Infrastructure investments, which are realized by spending a large amount of public taxes, are mostly considered problems that engineers have to solve and do not attract most people, including designers. The most crucial infrastructure problem for cities is Urban Water. For instance, water flows when we turn on the tap and ...

Linear viscoelastic properties of polymeric suspensions
Bayram, G; Yılmazer, Ülkü; Orbey, N (1999-05-06)
Linear viscoelastic properties of a model suspension containing hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) and glass beads with filler concentration up to 30% by volume were investigated by using a Haake parallel disk rheometer. For all the suspensions, it was observed that the rheological properties such as the storage modulus, G', loss modulus, G" and complex viscosity, eta* increases with the filler content, Phi. The relaxation spectra was calculated by using G' and G". The relaxation moduli, G(i)(lambda(i...
