A composite mixture of three typical Cu/Zn complex ores, namely black-, yellow- and altered-ore, from Cayeli deposit in Turkey, was used for leaching experiments under atmospheric pressure in ferric sulphate solutions, In order to study the reaction kinetics of the copper and zinc dissolution in the temperature range from 50 to 80-degrees-C; also in the presence of a solvent for elemental sulphur, such as CCl4.

Electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometric determination of gold by vapor formation and in situ trapping in graphite tubes
Ertaş, Gülay; Ataman, Osman Yavuz (2004-10-01)
Gold was determined in ore samples following generation, separation, collection on a graphite cuvette inner wall, and atomization of its volatile species formed by combining an acidified sample solution with an aqueous sodium tetrahydroborate solution at room temperature. A detection limit of 2.6 mug L-1 (3sigma) was obtained with a 5.0 mL sample volume. Precision of replicate measurements was typically 10% RSD. The overall efficiency of the volatile species generation, transport, and trapping process was 0...
CVD of boron and dichloroborane formation in a hot-wire fiber growth reactor
Sezgi, Naime Aslı; Dogu, T; Ozbelge, HO (2001-11-01)
Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) of boron by hydrogen reduction of BCl, on a hot tungsten substrate was investigated in a parallel flow reactor. Effect of substrate temperature (1100-1250 degreesC) on the relative rates of formation of BHCl2 and boron was observed by the on-line analysis of the reactor effluent stream composition using an FT-IR spectrophotometer. It was concluded that BHCl2 was majorly formed in the gas phase within the thermal boundary layer adjacent to the substrate with possible contribut...
Application of TGA-MS technique for oil shale characterization and kinetics
Kök, Mustafa Verşan; Varfolomeev, Mikhail A.; Nurgaliev, Danis K.; Kandasamy, Jayaraman (2022-03-01)
Thermal characteristics and model free kinetics of four different oil shale samples were studied using simultaneous thermogravimetry-mass spectrometer (TGA-MS) analysis performed at three different heating rates and under air atmosphere. All the reaction regions and corresponding peak temperatures, mass loss, and the residue of oil shale samples were determined. Meanwhile, the main volatile products, primary alcohols, and aromatic compounds as products of oil shale combustion, were determined on the basis o...
Numerical investigation of coupled heat and mass transfer inside the adsorbent bed of an adsorption cooling unit
Solmus, Ismail; Rees, D. Andrew S.; Yamali, Cemil; Baker, Derek Keıth; KAFTANOĞLU, BİLGİN (2012-05-01)
In this study, the influence of several design parameters on the transient distributions of temperature, pressure and amount adsorbed in the radial direction of a cylindrical adsorbent bed of an adsorption cooling unit using silica gel/water have been investigated numerically. For this purpose, a transient one-dimensional local thermal non-equilibrium model that accounts for both internal and external mass transfer resistances has been developed using the local volume averaging method. For the conditions in...
Thermal characterization of crude oils in the presence of limestone matrix by TGA-DTG-FTIR
Kök, Mustafa Verşan; Nurgaliev, Danis K. (2017-06-01)
In present work oxidation of two heavy oils in limestone matrix was studied using simultaneous thermo-gravimetry (TGA), derivative thermogravimetry (DTG) and FTIR-spectroscopy techniques in the temperature range from 25 to 900 degrees C. Before the measurements, the composition and properties of crude oils and limestone were evaluated. Obtained TG and DTG curves shows four different reaction regions: low temperature oxidation (LTO), fuel deposition (FD), high temperature oxidation (HTO) and decomposition of...
