The Sturm-Liouville operator on the space of functions with discontinuity conditions
Uğur, Ömür (2006-03-01)
The Sturm-Liouville differential operators defined on the space of discontinuous functions, where the moments of discontinuity of the functions are interior points of the interval and the discontinuity conditions are linear have been studied. Auxiliary results concerning the Green's formula, boundary value, and eigenvalue problems for impulsive differential equations are emphasized.
The Laguerre pseudospectral method for the radial Schrodinger equation
ALICI, HAYDAR; Taşeli, Hasan (2015-01-01)
By transforming dependent and independent variables, radial Schrodinger equation is converted into a form resembling the Laguerre differential equation. Therefore, energy eigenvalues and wavefunctions of M-dimensional radial Schrodinger equation with a wide range of isotropic potentials are obtained numerically by using Laguerre pseudospectral methods. Comparison with the results from literature shows that the method is highly competitive. (C) 2014 IMACS. Published by Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
A Rayleigh–Ritz Method for Numerical Solutions of Linear Fredholm Integral Equations of the Second Kind
Kaya, Ruşen; Taşeli, Hasan (2022-01-01)
A Rayleigh–Ritz Method is suggested for solving linear Fredholm integral equations of the second kind numerically in a desired accuracy. To test the performance of the present approach, the classical one-dimensional Schrödinger equation -y″(x)+v(x)y(x)=λy(x),x∈(-∞,∞) has been converted into an integral equation. For a regular problem, the unbounded interval is truncated to x∈ [ - ℓ, ℓ] , where ℓ is regarded as a boundary parameter. Then, the resulting integral equation has been solved and the results are co...
The method of lines solution of the discrete ordinates method for radiative heat transfer in enclosures
Selçuk, Nevin; Külah, Görkem (2000-04-01)
A radiation code based on the method of fines (MOL) solution of the discrete ordinates method (DOM) for transient three-dimensional radiative heat transfer in rectangular enclosures for use in conjunction with a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code based on the same approach, vas developed. Assessment of the predictive accuracy of the code by benchmarking its steady-state solutions against exact solutions on one- and three-dimensional test problems shows that the MOL solution of the DOM provides accurate ...
The finite element method over a simple stabilizing grid applied to fluid flow problems
Aydın, Selçuk Han; Tezer-Sezgin, Münevver; Department of Scientific Computing (2008)
We consider the stabilized finite element method for solving the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations and the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equations in two dimensions. The well-known instabilities arising from the application of standard Galerkin finite element method are eliminated by using the stabilizing subgrid method (SSM), the streamline upwind Petrov-Galerkin (SUPG) method, and the two-level finite element method (TLFEM). The domain is discretized into a set of regular triangular elements. In SSM, the...
