The Terlemez quartz monzonite is one of the Central Anatolian Granitoids and is exposed to the east of one of the main granitoid belts trending in a NW-SE direction and situated at the western end of the Central Anatolian Crystalline Complex.

Whole-Rock and Nd-Pb isotope geochemistry and radiolarian ages of the volcanics from the Yüksekova Complex (Maden Area, Elazığ, E Turkey): Implications for a Late Cretaceous (Santonian-Campanian) Back-Arc basin in the southern Neotethys
Ural, Melek; Sayıt, Kaan; TEKİN, UĞUR KAĞAN (2022-01-31)
The Southeast Anatolian Orogenic Belt (SAOB) is characterized by a tectonic assemblage consisting of dismembered ophiolites, subduction-related as-semblages, and continental fragments. Whether the subduction-related volcanic assemblages formed in a Southern Neotethys oceanic arc-basin system (the Yüksekova Complex) or in a back-arc basin (the Maden Complex) originated after the closure of Southern Neotethys is still debated. To shed light on this matter, we focus on the Maden area, known as the type localit...
Zircon U Pb Geochronology Hf Isotopes and whole rock geochemistry of the meta magmatic rocks from the Çangaldağ Complex Central Pontides Turkey
Çimen, Okay; Göncüoğlu, Mehmet Cemal; Simonetti, Antonio; Sayıt, Kaan (2016-04-11)
The Central Pontides in northern Turkey form an imbricated structural complex that consists of a number of variably metamorphic oceanic assemblages between the Istanbul-Zonguldak and Sakarya Composite terranes. The Çangaldağ Complex is a member of this unit and occurs as an E-W trending 30 km long and 15 km wide belt to the north of the Kastamonu-Boyabat Tertiary basin. The Çangaldağ Complex consists predominantly of variably deformed and metamorphosed igneous rocks ranging from felsic to mafic in compositi...
Coeval extensional shearing and lateral underflow during Late Cretaceous core complex development in the Nigde Massif, Central Anatolia, Turkey
Gautier, Pierre; Bozkurt, Erdin; Bosse, Valerie; Hallot, Erwan; Dirik, Kadir (2008-01-12)
[1] The Nigde Massif, at the southern tip of the Central Anatolian Crystalline Complex, consists of two structural units. Foliations in the lower unit define a dome cored by migmatites. The contact between the two units bears all the elements of a ductile to brittle extensional detachment. Hence the Nig. de Massif represents an extensional metamorphic core complex. Top-to-NE/ENE shearing at higher levels of the lower unit relates to displacement along the detachment. Deeper levels of the lower unit display ...
Carbonate sedimentation in an extensional active margin: Cretaceous history of the Haymana region, Pontides
Okay, Aral; Altıner, Demir (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2016-10-01)
The Haymana region in Central Anatolia is located in the southern part of the Pontides close to the A degrees zmir-Ankara suture. During the Cretaceous, the region formed part of the south-facing active margin of the Eurasia. The area preserves a nearly complete record of the Cretaceous system. Shallow marine carbonates of earliest Cretaceous age are overlain by a 700-m-thick Cretaceous sequence, dominated by deep marine limestones. Three unconformity-bounded pelagic carbonate sequences of Berriasian, Albia...
Sarackoy Volcanic Suite: implications for the subductional phase of arc evolution in the Galatean Arc Complex, Ankara, Turkey
Kocyigit, A; Winchester, JA; Bozkurt, Erdin; Holland, G (Wiley, 2003-01-01)
A sequence of upper Campanian volcanic rocks, hitherto considered as part of the Miocene calc-alkaline Galatean volcanic sequence, crops out near Sarackoy, 40 km north of Ankara. These volcanic rocks, unconformably overlain by Eocene nummulitic limestones, comprise thin flows and volcaniclastic deposits. They can be divided compositionally into three distinct subunits: (i) basal massive trachyandesitic volcaniclastic rocks with a thin flow at the top, overlain by (ii) mixed volcaniclastic rocks and thin amy...
