Lithium triborate (LiB3O5) was produced by different synthesis methods, which included high-temperature solid-state reaction, microwave-assisted high-temperature solid-state reaction, and precipitation-assisted high-temperature solid-state reaction. After the synthesis, metal oxides (CuO and Al2O3) were doped into LiB3O5 to enhance its thermoluminescent (TL) properties, and the TL intensities were compared with each other. The identification and characteristics of undoped and doped LiB3O5 were determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analyses, differential thermal analyses (DTA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and particle size analyzer. The glow curves were obtained by using a TL reader. The results showed that synthesis routes affected the physical and structural properties of lithium triborate, which have an important effect on its TL intensity.

Breakthrough analysis of H2S removal on Cu-V-Mo, Cu-V, and Cu-Mo mixed oxides
Yasyerli, S; Dogu, G; Ar, I; Doğu, Timur (2003-05-01)
Kinetic studies carried out for the sorption of H2S in the presence and absence of hydrogen on Cu-V-Mo, Cu-V, and Cu-Mo mixed oxides gave detailed information about the reaction sequences. Formation of SO2 even in the presence of hydrogen at the initial stages of the sorption process showed the partial reduction of the metal oxides prior to the sulfidation step. A sorption experiment carried out with Cu-Mo mixed oxide gave incomplete sulfidation of molybdenum, whereas with Cu-V mixed oxide complete sulfidat...
A new soluble conducting polymer and its electrochromic devices
YİLDİZ, UMİT HAKAN; SAHİN, ELİF; Akhmedov, IM; Tanyeli, Cihangir; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Wiley, 2006-04-01)
A new polythiophene derivative was synthesized by both chemical and electrochemical oxidative polymerization of 1-(1-phenylethyl)-2,5-di(2-thienyl)-1H-pyrrole (PETPy). Of which the chemical method produces a polymer that is completely soluble in organic solvents. The structures of both the monomer and the soluble polymer were elucidated by nuclear magnetic resonance (H-1 and C-13 NMR) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The average molecular weight has been determined by gel permeation chrom...
Investigation of thermoluminescence properties of metal oxide doped lithium triborate
Oezdemir, Zeynep; Yılmaz, Ayşen; Yılmaz, Aysun (2007-10-01)
In this study, lithium triborate (LiB3O5) doped with different metal oxides were investigated to explore its thermoluminescence properties. Solid-state reaction method was employed for the synthesis of the desired materials. The formation of the produced phases was confirmed by Powder X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Infrared (IR), Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) examinations. It was found that, CuO and Al2O3 doped lithium triborate samples exhibit very significant thermol...
Influence of particle size of glass powder on the crystallisation kinetic parameters of a fluorophosphate glass
Ozturk, A (2000-04-01)
Crystallisation behaviour of a fluorophosphate glass composed of the system AIF(3)-CaF2-Mg-2-Sr-2- BaF2-Ba(PO3)(2) was studied at nonisothermal conditions using differential thermal analysis (DTA). Kinetic parameters for crystallisation, namely, the activation energy, E, frequency factor; upsilon, and Avrami exponent, n, were determined as a function of the particle size of the glass powder and different furnace atmosphere. Also the Effect of flow rate of nitrogen gas on the crystallisation behaviour was st...
Synthesis, spectroscopic and electrochemical studies of perylene containing conjugated copolymers
Bayseç, Şebnem; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Yılmaz, Levent; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2013)
The synthesis , spectroscopic and electrochemical properties of a series of donor-acceptor (DA) type polymers by changing the donor unit (thiophene, dithienopyrrole) polymer backbone were investigated. The synthesized CoP1 and CoP2 were designed to investigate the effect of copolymerization and insertion of perylene tetracarboxylic dimide (PDI) on the structure of benzotriazole (BTz) based polymers. For CoP1 1,7-dibromo-perylene diimide,4,7-dibromo-2-dodecyl-2H-benzo[d][1,2,3]triazole and 2,5 bis(tributylsta...
