The two-dimensional transient elastodynamic problems are solved numerically by using the coupling of the dual reciprocity boundary element method (DRBEM) in spatial domain with the differential quadrature method (DQM) in time domain. The DRBEM with the fundamental solution of the Laplace equation transforms the domain integrals into the boundary integrals that contain the first- and the second-order time derivative terms. Thus, the application of DRBEM to elastodynamic problems results in a system of second-order ordinary differential equations in time. This system is then discretized by the polynomial-based DQM with respect to time. which gives a system of linear algebraic equations after the imposition of both the boundary and the initial conditions. Therefore. the solution is obtained at any required time level at one stroke without the use of an iterative scheme and Without the need of very small step size in time direction. The numerical results are visualized in terms of graphics. Copyright (C) 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

A unified approach for the formulation of interaction problems by the boundary element method
Mengi, Y; Argeso, H (Wiley, 2006-04-30)
A unified formulation is presented, based on boundary element method, in a form suitable for performing the interaction analyses by substructure method for solid-solid and soil-structure problems. The proposed formulation permits the evaluation of all the elements of impedance and input motion matrices simultaneously at a single step in terms of system matrices of the boundary element method without solving any special problem, such as, unit displacement or load problem, as required in conventional methods....
A quasi-incompressible and quasi-inextensible element formulation for transversely isotropic materials
Dal, Hüsnü (Wiley, 2019-01-06)
The contribution presents a new finite element formulation for quasi-inextensible and quasi-incompressible finite hyperelastic behavior of transeversely isotropic materials and addresses its computational aspects. The material formulation is presented in purely Eulerian setting and based on the additive decomposition of the free energy function into isotropic and anisotropic parts, where the former is further decomposed into isochoric and volumetric parts. For the quasi-incompressible response, the Q1P0 ele...
The comparison between the DRBEM and DQM solution of nonlinear reaction-diffusion equation
MERAL, GÜLNİHAL; Tezer, Münevver (Elsevier BV, 2011-10-01)
In this study, both the dual reciprocity boundary element method and the differential quadrature method are used to discretize spatially, initial and boundary value problems defined by single and system of nonlinear reaction-diffusion equations. The aim is to compare boundary only and a domain discretization method in terms of accuracy of solutions and computational cost. As the time integration scheme, the finite element method is used achieving solution in terms of time block with considerably large time ...
A DRBEM approximation of the Steklov eigenvalue problem
Türk, Önder (Elsevier BV, 2021-01-01)
In this study, we propose a novel approach based on the dual reciprocity boundary element method (DRBEM) to approximate the solutions of various Steklov eigenvalue problems. The method consists in weighting the governing differential equation with the fundamental solutions of the Laplace equation where the definition of interior nodes is not necessary for the solution on the boundary. DRBEM constitutes a promising tool to characterize such problems due to the fact that the boundary conditions on part or all...
An alternative series solution to the isotropic quartic oscillator in N dimensions
Taşeli, Hasan (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 1996-01-01)
The series solution of the N-dimensional isotropic quartic oscillator weighted by an appropriate function which exhibits the correct asymptotic behavior of the wave function is presented. The numerical performance of the solution in Bill's determinant picture is excellent, and yields the energy spectrum of the system to any desired accuracy for the full range of the coupling constant. Furthermore, it converges to the well-known exact solution of the unperturbed harmonic oscillator wave function, when the an...
