Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) signals of BeO ceramics were investigated using continuous wave (CW) OSL and Linearly Modulated (LM) OSL It was found that both curves can be approximated using a linear combination of two first-order components. Experiments on the measurement temperature dependence have shown that these two components have nearly the same thermal quenching energies around 0.57 eV. Dependences of the OSL signal on preheat temperature and radiation dose were also examined. Thermal annealing experiments have shown that OSL signals originate from traps which are unstable near 340 degrees C, thus proving the suitability of the signals for dosimetric purposes. Dose response was found to be linear and a minimum detectable dose of similar to 10 mu Gy was found.

Time-resolved OSL (TR-OSL) from natural zircon (ZrSiO4) minerals was investigated using 445 nm blue laser light for stimulation. Frequency Selective Characteristics of a Plasma Layer with Sinusoidally Varying Electron Density Profile

In this study reflection, absorbtion and transmission characteristics of a plasma layer having sinusoidally varying electron number density are analysed. In the analysis, plasma layer is divided into thin subslabs with constant electron number densities. The general frequency selective behavior of the plasma is investigated by varying the plasma parameters, external magnetic field excitation and sinusoidal electron distribution in order to be used in recent plasma applications.
Time reconstruction and performance of the CMS electromagnetic calorimeter

The resolution and the linearity of time measurements made with the CMS electromagnetic calorimeter are studied with samples of data from test beam electrons, cosmic rays, and beam-produced muons. The resulting time resolution measured by lead tungstate crystals is better than 100 ps for energy deposits larger than 10 GeV. Crystal-to-crystal synchronization with a precision of 500 ps is performed using muons produced with the first LHC beams in 2008.
