We consider the problem of recovering a signal from partial and redundant information distributed over two fractional Fourier domains. This corresponds to recovering a wave field from two planes perpendicular to the direction of propagation in a quadratic-phase multilens system. The distribution of the known information over the two planes has a significant effect on our ability to accurately recover the field. We observe that distributing the known samples more equally between the two planes, or increasing the distance between the planes in free space, generally makes the recovery more difficult. Spreading the known information uniformly over the planes, or acquiring additional samples to compensate for the redundant information, helps to improve the accuracy of the recovery. These results shed light onto redundancy and information relations among the given data for a broad class of systems of practical interest, and provide a deeper insight into the underlying mathematical problem. Geometric measures of entanglement
UYANIK, KIVANÇ; Turgut, Sadi (American Physical Society (APS), 2010-03-01)
The geometric measure of entanglement, which expresses the minimum distance to product states, has been generalized to distances to sets that remain invariant under the stochastic reducibility relation. For each such set, an associated entanglement monotone can be defined. The explicit analytical forms of these measures are obtained for bipartite entangled states. Moreover, the three-qubit case is discussed and it is argued that the distance to the W states is a new monotone.
Nondipolar effects in the photoionization dynamics of carbon tetrafluoride
Toffolı, Danıele; Decleva, Piero (American Physical Society (APS), 2008-12-01)
The linear combination of atomic orbitals approach to the calculation of the molecular continuum spectrum with B-spline basis functions has been applied to the calculation of the first-order nondipolar corrections to the photoelectron angular distributions from carbon tetrafluoride. Dipolar and nondipolar asymmetry parameter profiles have been calculated for every single-particle orbital ionization. A comparison with the available experimental data gives good agreement for the dipolar asymmetry parameter. N...
Space-bandwidth-efficient realizations of linear systems
KUTAY, MA; ERDEN, MF; OZAKTAS, HM; ARIKAN, O; GULERYUZ, O; Candan, Çağatay (The Optical Society, 1998-07-15)
One can obtain either exact realizations or useful approximations of linear systems or matrix-vector products that arise in many different applications by implementing them in the form of multistage or multichannel fractional Fourier-domain filters, resulting in space-bandwidth-efficient systems with acceptable decreases in accuracy. Varying the number and the configuration of filters enables one to trade off between accuracy and efficiency in a flexible manner. The proposed scheme constitutes a systematic ...
Strong oscillations in the nondipole corrections to the photoelectron angular distributions from C-60
Toffolı, Danıele; Decleva, Piero (American Physical Society (APS), 2010-06-25)
Nondipolar corrections to the photoelectron angular distributions from C-60 have been calculated for the highest occupied molecular orbital ( HOMO), HOMO-1, and HOMO-2 photoemission bands. The computational method employed takes advantage of a parallel algorithm that uses a multicentric expansion of bound- and scattering-wave functions and a density-functional theory one-particle Hamiltonian. First-order nondipolar asymmetry parameters have been calculated from thresholds of up to 160 eV of photon energy. S...
BOUND-STATE ENERGIES FOR THE EXPONENTIAL COSINE SCREENED COULOMB POTENTIAL
IKHDAIR, SM; Sever, Ramazan (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 1993-09-01)
The energy eigenvalues of bound states of an electron in the general exponential cosine screened Coulomb potential are obtained using the shifted 1/N expansion method. The energies for the states from 1s to 8k are calculated from six to eight significant figures. The energy eigenvalues for the 1s, 2s - 2p, 3s - 3d, and 4s - 4f states are also presented as a function of the screening parameter lambda. Results are compared with the ones obtained by other workers. The agreement reduces roughly for large lambda...
