We present ultrafast reflectivity measurements on the dynamics of optically excited free carriers in semiconductor microcavities. We observe that the relaxation dynamics of the switched cavity is strongly frequency dependent, which points towards multiple carrier populations.

Metamaterial absorber-based sensor embedded into X-band waveguide
SABAH, CUMALİ; TURKMEN-KUCUKSARİ, OZNUR; Sayan, Gönül (Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), 2014-07-17)
A novel metamaterial sensor, integrated with an X-band waveguide, is proposed for high-resolution measurements of variations in the dielectric constant and/or the thickness of a superstrate layer that covers a pair of absorber unit cells. Variations in superstrate parameters are potentially caused by physical, chemical or biological factors, and can be detected by measuring the corresponding shifts in the resonance frequency of the metamaterial sensor. It is estimated by simulation results that resolution l...
Capacitive cmos readout circuits for high performance mems accelerometers
Kepenek, Reha; Külah, Haluk; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2008)
This thesis presents the development of high resolution, wide dynamic range sigma-delta type readout circuits for capacitive MEMS accelerometers. Designed readout circuit employs fully differential closed loop structure with digital output, achieving high oversampling ratio and high resolution. The simulations of the readout circuit together with the accelerometer sensor are performed using the models constructed in Cadence and Matlab Simulink environments. The simulations verified the stability and proper ...
Circumferential Traveling Wave Slot Array on Cylindrical Substrate Integrated Waveguide (CSIW)
Bayraktar, Omer; Aydın Çivi, Hatice Özlem (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2014-07-01)
Traveling wave slot array on cylindrical substrate integrated waveguide (CSIW) is designed, fabricated and measured at K-band. CSIW is formed by wrapping the substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) around the cylinder in the circumferential direction. 16 element longitudinal slot array on the broad wall of single CSIW is designed by the Elliot's design procedure. The spacings between the slot elements are determined to reduce the half power beam width (HPBW) and to obtain good matching at 25 GHz. A 4 x 16 slot...
Dual-Polarization Wideband Sub-6 GHz Suspended Patch Antenna for 5G Base Station
Ciydem, Mehmet; Miran, Emre A. (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2020-07-01)
This letter presents a simple, compact, low-cost, low-profile, dual-polarization, suspended patch antenna design to operate in 3.3-3.8 GHz band for 5G base stations. The proposed antenna comprises a main radiating patch, a secondary parasitic patch, modified L-probe feeds, and a vertical metal wall. The main patch is capacitively driven by two feeds for dual (+/- 45 degrees slant) polarization. The vertical metal wall is used to increase the port isolation. The parasitic patch also helps further improvement...
Optical Modulation With Silicon Microspheres
Yüce, Emre; Serpenguzel, Ali (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2009-10-15)
In this letter, a silicon microsphere coupled to a silica optical fiber half coupler has been characterized for electrooptical modulation in the L-band at 1.55 mu m. Electrooptical modulation of the transmitted and the 90 degrees elastic scattered signals for both the TE and the TM polarizations of the microsphere resonances has been observed.
