We study here the Pippard relations as linear relations between the specific heat C-p and the thermal expansivity alpha(p), also between alpha(p) and the isothermal compressibility kappa(T) for the solid phase of carbon tetrachloride close to the melting point.

Pippard relation modified for the rotatory lattice mode in ammonia solid II
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (Walter de Gruyter GmbH, 2005-01-01)
In this study we obtain a linear variation of the specific heat Cp with the Raman frequency shifts 1/v (partial derivative v/partial derivative T)p for the rotatory lattice (librational) mode in the ammonia solid II near the melting point. From this linearity, we deduce values of the slope dP(m)/dT for the pressures of 3.65, 5.02 and 6.57 kbars in the ammonia solid II. Our calculated value of dP(m)/dT for the pressure of 3.65 kbar, is in good agreement with the experimentally measured value in the P-T phase...
Critical Behaviour of the Heat Capacity Near the alpha-beta Phase Transition in Quartz
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (Walter de Gruyter GmbH, 2013-04-01)
The alpha-beta transition ( T-Q = 578 degrees C) is studied in quartz by analyzing the experimental heat capacity C-p data taken from the literature, using a power-law formula. Values of the critical exponent alpha for C-p are extracted below and above T-Q, which describe the alpha-beta transition as a second order transition in quartz. The alpha values obtained here are compared with the predictions of the theoretical models.
Linear variations of the thermodynamic quantities in the liquid phase of carbon tetrachloride close to the melting point
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (Elsevier BV, 2008-03-15)
We verify here a linear variation of the specific heat C-p with the thermal expansivity alpha(p) and also a linear variation of alpha(p) with the isothermal compressibility K-T for the liquid phase of carbon tetrachloride close to the melting point.
Raman Study of Solid Nitrogen in the beta Phase and Close to the Melting Line
Iseri, E. Cetinbas; Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (Walter de Gruyter GmbH, 2013-02-01)
This study gives the Raman frequencies calculated as functions of temperature and pressure for the lattice modes in the solid beta phase and close to the melting line (beta-fluid transition). The experimental volume data from the literature is used to calculate the Raman frequencies for the molecular nitrogen system. Some observed Raman frequencies are also used as the initial data to perform our calculations given here.
Specific heat calculated from the Raman frequency shifts close to the gimel-phase transition in NH4Br
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (Old City Publishing, Inc, 2003-01-01)
We calculated the specific heat C-VI close to the lambda-phase transition in NH4Br on the basis of predictions of the Ising model. We have used our observed Raman frequencies of the nu(5) (134 cm(-1)) lattice mode to extract the critical exponent for the specific heat. The C-VI values calculated by us with this exponent value agree with the measured C-P data reported in the literature. This agreement is particularly good above T-lambda. This indicates that the observed behaviour of NH4Br can be satisfactori...
