CALCULATION OF THE PHASE DIAGRAMS FOR THE FLUID-SOLID AND SOLID-SOLID (delta-delta(loc)-epsilon) TRANSITIONS IN MOLECULAR NITROGEN BY USING MEAN FIELD MODEL

2019-03-01
The temperature-pressure (T-P) phase diagrams are calculated using the mean field models for the solid-fluid (first order) and, the solid-solid transitions of the delta-delta(loc) (second order) and delta(loc)-epsilon (first order) in nitrogen. By expanding the free energy in terms of the order parameters, the phase line equations are derived and they are fitted to the experimental data from the literature for this molecular crystal. For the fitting procedure, the coefficients in the free energy expansion are assumed to be the temperature and pressure dependent.

Calculation of the thermodynamic functions using a mean field model for the fluid-solid transition in nitrogen
AKAY, Özge; Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (Romanian Academy - Revue Roumaine De Chimie, 2020-05-01)
Temperature and pressure dependence of the thermodynamic quantities are calculated using the Landau phenomenological model for the first order fluid-solid transition in nitrogen. This calculation is performed by fitting the phase line equation as derived from the mean field model to the observed T-P phase diagram of the fluid-solid transition in N2 from the literature. Our calculations show that the order parameter and the inverse susceptibility decrease whereas the entropy, heat capacity, thermal expansion...
EVALUATION OF SECOND VIRIAL COEFFICIENTS FROM SATURATION DATA
Orbey, H.; Orbey, N. (Informa UK Limited, 1989-3)
A data reduction technique is introduced for the evaluation of second virial coefficients of gases at subcritical temperatures. The method makes use of the vapor-liquid equilibrium data, i.e., temperature, saturation pressure, liquid and vapor molar volumes and can be used to obtain second virial coefficients of a wide variety of fluids including polar, associating and quantum gases. The calculated second virial coefficients are in good agreement with their counterparts from literature, which are obtained f...
Preparation and characterization of a new CdS-NiFe2O4/reduced graphene oxide photocatalyst and its use for degradation of methylene blue under visible light irradiation
Bagherzadeh, Mojtaba; Kaveh, Reyhaneh; Özkar, Saim; AKBAYRAK, SERDAR (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2018-10-01)
In this paper, CdS nanoparticles as a visible light active photocatalyst were coupled by NiFe2O4 and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) to form CdS-NiFe2O4/rGO nanocomposite by facile hydrothermal methods. The CdS-NiFe2O4/rGO nanocomposite shows enhanced photocatalytic activity for the degradation of methylene blue (MB) under visible light illumination. In addition to improved photocatalytic performance, this prepared nanocomposite shows increased photostability and is magnetically separable from the aqueous medi...
Novel Molecular Building Blocks Based on the Boradiazaindacene Chromophore: Applications in Fluorescent Metallosupramolecular Coordination Polymers
Bozdemir, Oe. Altan; Buyukcakir, Onur; AKKAYA, Engin Umut (Wiley, 2009-01-01)
We designed and synthesized novel boradiazaindacene (Bodipy) derivatives that are appropriately functionalized for metal-ion-mediated supramolecular polymerization. Thus, ligands for 2-terpyridyl-, 2,6-terpyridyl-. and bipyridyl-functionalized Bodipy dyes were synthesized through Sonogashira couplings. These fluorescent building blocks are responsive to metal ions in a stoichiometry-dependent manner. Octahedral coordinating metal ions such as Zn-II result in polymerization at a stoichiometry corresponding t...
Calculation of the Raman Linewidths of Lattice Modes Close to the alpha-beta Transition in Quartz
Lider, Mustafa Cem; Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (Walter de Gruyter GmbH, 2012-12-01)
The Raman frequencies of the lattice modes (147 cm(-1) and 207 cm(-1)) are analyzed for the alpha-beta transition in quartz according to a power-law formula with the critical exponent by using the experimental data. The temperature dependence of the Raman frequency is associated with the order parameter (polarization P) for this transition in the quartz crystal.
