We consider a system of differential equations, the behavior of whose solutions possesses several properties characteristic of the blood pressure distribution. The system can be used for a compartmental modeling [R. Bellman, Mathematical Methods in Medicine, in: Series in Modern Applied Mathematics, vol 1, World Scientific Publishing Co., Singapore, 1983; J.A. Jacquez, Compartmental Analysis in Biology and Medicine, Elsevier, New York, 19721 of the cardiovascular system. It admits a unique bounded solution such that all coordinates of the solution are separated from zero by positive numbers, and which is periodic, eventually periodic or almost periodic depending on the moments of heart contraction. Appropriate numerical simulations are provided. Some of the results were announced at The Fifth International Conference on Dynamic Systems and Applications held at Morehouse College. Atlanta. in 2007 [M.U. Akhmet, G. Bekmukhambetova. On modeling of blood pressure distribution, in: Proceedings of the Fifth International Conference on Dynamic Systems and Applications held at Morehouse College, Atlanta, USA, May 30-June 2. 2007, Proc. Dyn. Syst Appl, 5 (2008) 17-20].

A DRBEM approximation of the Steklov eigenvalue problem
Türk, Önder (Elsevier BV, 2021-01-01)
In this study, we propose a novel approach based on the dual reciprocity boundary element method (DRBEM) to approximate the solutions of various Steklov eigenvalue problems. The method consists in weighting the governing differential equation with the fundamental solutions of the Laplace equation where the definition of interior nodes is not necessary for the solution on the boundary. DRBEM constitutes a promising tool to characterize such problems due to the fact that the boundary conditions on part or all...
An analysis of a linearly extrapolated BDF2 subgrid artificial viscosity method for incompressible flows
Demir, Medine (Elsevier BV, 2020-10-01)
This report extends the mathematical support of a subgrid artificial viscosity (SAV) method to simulate the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations to better performing a linearly extrapolated BDF2 (BDF2LE) time discretization. The method considers the viscous term as a combination of the vorticity and the grad-div stabilization term. SAV method introduces global stabilization by adding a term, then anti-diffuses through the extra mixed variables. We present a detailed analysis of conservation laws, includin...
A model for the computation of quantum billiards with arbitrary shapes
Erhan, Inci M.; Taşeli, Hasan (Elsevier BV, 2006-10-01)
An expansion method for the stationary Schrodinger equation of a three-dimensional quantum billiard system whose boundary is defined by an arbitrary analytic function is introduced. The method is based on a coordinate transformation and an expansion in spherical harmonics. The effectiveness is verified and confirmed by a numerical example, which is a billiard system depending on a parameter.
A density functional theory study on the structures and energetics of CdmTen clusters (m + n <= 6)
Pekoz, Rengin; Erkoç, Şakir (Elsevier BV, 2009-06-01)
Density functional method has been used to study the structural features and energetics of CdmTen clusters (m + n <= 6). The results presented include the geometric structures, binding energies, Mulliken charges on atoms, vibrational frequencies and the corresponding non-zero infrared intensities, HOMO-LUMO energies and the frontier molecular orbital energy gaps, the most possible dissociation channels and their corresponding energies of the clusters.
Least-squares differential quadrature time integration scheme in the dual reciprocity boundary element method solution of diffusive-convective problems
Bozkaya, Canan (Elsevier BV, 2007-01-01)
Least-squares differential quadrature method (DQM) is used for solving the ordinary differential equations in time, obtained from the application of dual reciprocity boundary element method (DRBEM) for the spatial partial derivatives in diffusive-convective type problems with variable coefficients. The DRBEM enables us to use the fundamental solution of Laplace equation, which is easy to implement computation ally. The terms except the Laplacian are considered as the nonhomogeneity in the equation, which ar...
