Exceedance probability assessment of bathing water quality standards in lake Van based on a geostatistical analysis
Sanli, Mert; Yılmazel, Yasemin Dilşad (2021-12-01)
Monitoring bathing water quality (BWQ) is highly important in Turkey both for public health issues and tourism income. Lake Van is one of the largest lakes of Turkey and serves as one of the most important tourist attractions in the eastern part of Turkey. This study aims to assess critical bathing sites in Lake Van by using historical BWQ data that was collected twice a month during the swimming season from June 15 to August 31, between the years 2010 and 2020. To avoid public health hazards, it is very im...
Series Active Filter Based Resonance Damping of High Power Three-phase, LCL Filtered, Grid Connected Voltage Source Inverters
Usluer, S. Nadir; Hava, Ahmet Masum (2014-06-04)
A series active filter (SAF) based method for the damping of resonant harmonics created by the LCL-filter of the grid connected PWM-VSI is proposed. Oscillations in multi-megawatt rated high power inverters with LCL-filters are damped with resistors which create undesired power losses typically up to 1% of the rated power of the system. The method stated in this paper overcomes the stability/oscillation problem while providing a solution to the resistive power loss. The proposed SAF compensated system perfo...
Domoic acid production by Pseudo-nitzschia calliantha Lundholm, Moestrup et Hasle (bacillariophyta) isolated from the Black Sea
Besiktepe, Sengul; Ryabushko, Larisa; Ediger, Dilek; Yimaz, Doruk; Zenginer Yılmaz, Arife; Ryabushko, Vitaly; Lee, Raisa (2008-06-01)
A species of Pseudo-nitzschia isolated from Sevastopol Bay, Black Sea, was examined for its toxicity. The species was identified as P. calliantha Lundholm, Moestrup et Hasle based on SEM and TEM examination. Domoic acid (DA) was detected in batch culture throughout the growth cycle of P. calliantha. The production of DA by this diatom species was confirmed by fluorenylmethoxycarbonyl (FMOC) derivatization and HPLC-fluorescence method. The cellular DA level was higher in the early exponential phase, with the...
Wearable Flexible Reconfigurable Antenna Integrated With Artificial Magnetic Conductor
Saeed, Saud M.; Balanis, Constantine A.; Birtcher, Craig R.; Durgun, Ahmet Cemal; Shaman, Hussein N. (2017-01-01)
This letter presents a wearable flexible reconfigurable folded slot antenna. The antenna is composed of a folded slot and a stub where the reconfigurability is achieved by turning a p-i-n diode ON and OFF, which alters the radiation characteristics of the stub. The operating frequency and polarization of the slot and stub are different. Hence, a polarization-dependent dual-band artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) surface is integrated with the antenna to improve its radiation performance and to reduce the s...
