Correlations of the thermodynamic quantities with the frequency shifts of a lattice mode close to the I-II transition in NH4Br

2010-06-01
We correlate here the specific heat C-p with the frequency shifts (1/V) (partial derivative V/partial derivative T) and the thermal expansivity alpha(p) with the (1/v) (partial derivative V/partial derivative P)(T) close to the I-II transition in NH4Br. This correlation is performed for the Raman mode of vs (140 cm(-1)) using the molar volume data for NH4Br. It is shown here that spectroscopic modifications of the Pippard relations are applied satisfactorily to the I-II phase transition by using a lattice mode of NH4Br.

Correlations between Raman frequency shifts and the thermodynamic quantities close to the melting point in D2O ice
Karacali, H; Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (Wiley, 2005-11-01)
The Raman frequency shifts (1/v) (partial derivative v/partial derivative T)(T) and (1/v) (partial derivative v/partial derivative P)(T) of the translational mode are correlated to the specific heat C-p and to the thermal expansivity alpha(p), respectively, in D2O ice. Close to the melting point, they correlate linearly, from which the values of the slope dP/dT have been deduced in D2O ice. Our calculated values of dP/dT are in very good agreement with the experimentally obtained value in this crystalline s...
Pressure dependence of the Raman frequencies for the translational mode in ammonia solid II
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (Elsevier BV, 2006-12-01)
We study here the translational mode of the ammonia solid II near the melting point by calculating its Raman frequencies as a function of pressure for the fixed temperatures of 230.4, 263.4 and 297.5 K. We perform this calculation of the Raman frequencies using the volume data by means of our Gruneisen relation. The Raman frequency shifts as the volume changes with the pressure, exhibit an anomalous behaviour near the melting point in the ammonia solid II.
OPTIMAL-CONTROL OF THE FEED VOLTAGE OF A DIPOLE ANTENNA
ONDER, M; Kuzuoğlu, Mustafa (1992-04-01)
An optimization approach is presented for the problem of constructing the time-dependent voltage waveform at the input terminals of a dipole antenna such that the radiated electric field waveform at the far zone is equal to a predetermined function of time. This problem is treated as an optimal control problem where the control is the voltage at the input terminals of the dipole antenna and the functional to be minimized is a suitable norm of the difference of the required and calculated far zone electric f...
Correlations between the resonant frequency shifts and the thermodynamic quantities for the alpha-beta transition in quartz
Lider, M. C.; Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (2018-05-05)
The resonant frequency shifts are related to the thermodynamic quantities (compressibility, order parameter and susceptibility) for the alpha-beta transition in quartz. The experimental data for the resonant frequencies and the bulk modulus from the literature are used for those correlations. By calculating the order parameter from the mean field theory, correlation between the resonant frequencies of various modes and the order parameter is examined according to the quasi-harmonic phonon theory for the alp...
Calculation of the specific heat using the Raman frequency shifts for the solid I-II transition in benzene
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (Elsevier BV, 2015-06-15)
The specific heat C-p is calculated as a function of temperature using the observed Raman frequency shifts of the six lattice modes at constant pressures of 0 and 0.1 GPa for the solid I-II transition in benzene. This calculation is performed using the volume data through the mode Grfineisen parameter of each lattice mode which we determined as functions of temperature and pressure. The specific heat C-p is also calculated as a function of pressure at room temperature using the Raman frequency shifts of tho...
