Phonon mean free path in few layer, two-dimensional hexagonal structures
Gholivand, Hamed; Dönmezer, Nazlı; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2017)
Two-dimensional materials such as graphene and few layer hexagonal Boron Nitride (h-BN) have been the center of attention in the last decade. These materials provide anisotropic and exclusive properties making them ideal candidates for the modern electronic and optoelectronic applications. With the enhancements in fabrication techniques and the ability to separate thin layers their popularity is continuously increasing. Understanding the thermal properties of these materials is necessary to make better devi...
Fom machine house to smart home: the relationship between technology and private sphere throughout the 20th century
Günlü, Esra; Börekçi, Naz Ayşe Güzide Z.; Department of Industrial Design (2007)
This study is an attempt for providing a socio-historical perspective to the smart home concept that is a proposal for the future domestic sphere by the application of intelligent technologies. For achieving this attempt, the smart home is investigated with its roots within the social history of domestic technology, by posing the question of a relation between the machine house idea of modern architecture and the smart home concept as the main question of the research. After an inquiry on the smart home con...
Phonon Mean Free Path in Few Layer Graphene, Hexagonal Boron Nitride, and Composite Bilayer h-BN/Graphene
Gholivand, Hamed; Donmezer, Nazli (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2017-09-01)
In this study, ab-initio calculations were performed to obtain the phonon dispersions of seven different structures: single layer graphene, bilayer graphene, graphite, single layer h-BN, bilayer h-BN, bulk h-BN, and finally composite bilayer h-BN/graphene. Using these dispersions specific heat, group velocity, and single mode relaxation times of phonons were obtained to calculate their thermal conductivities, and mean free paths at room temperature. Calculated variables were used to understand the effects o...
STORAX CONTAINING HYDROXYETHYL CHITOSAN -CARRAGEENAN HYDROGEL / ASYMMETRIC POLYCAPROLACTONE MEMBRANE BILAYER WOUND DRESSING
Nakipoğlu, Mustafa; Tezcaner, Ayşen; Özen, Can; Department of Biotechnology (2023-1-18)
Despite the advancement of modern technology, wound care is still based on traditional methods such as suture, staple and gauze around the world. Although, these methods provide affordable treatment for various types of wounds, they fall short in easy and effective treatment to facilitate healing process. Enabling a quicker and more convenient wound healing necessitates a comprehensive approach to wound dressing development to include simple yet multifunctional and versatile designs. In this work, we focuse...
