Speech enhancement utilizing phase continuity between consecutive analysis windows
Mehmetcik, Erdal; Çiloğlu, Tolga; Candan, Çağatay; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2011)
It is commonly accepted that the induced noise on DFT phase spectrum has a negligible effect on speech intelligibility for short durations of analysis windows, as the early intelligibility studies pointed out. This fact is confirmed by recent intelligibility studies as well. Based on this phenomenon, classical speech enhancement algorithms do not modify DFT phase spectrum and only make changes in the DFT magnitude spectrum. However, in recent studies it is also indicated that these classical speech enhancem...
Operation of cascade dams considering various scenarious and financial analysis of scenarious
İmamoğlu, Berker Yalın; Akyürek, Sevda Zuhal; Department of Civil Engineering (2013)
In assuring the energy supply of Turkey, hydroelectric energy plays one of the most important roles in plans formulated to realize equilibrium between energy production and consumption. Hydroelectric power plants on Murat River, a tributary of Euphrates, is a part of the development plan for energy production. Operation of four dams in cascade on Murat River are simulated by using program package HECResSim. For this purpose, ten scenarios are formulated to utilize the hydraulic potential of Murat River betw...
A Model based guidance and vulnerability assessment approach for facilities under the threat of multi-hazard emergiencies
Ayhan, Murat; Ayhan, Murat; Birgönül, Mustafa Talat; Department of Civil Engineering (2012)
Disasters (e.g. earthquakes) and emergencies (e.g. fire) threaten the safety of occupants in the buildings and cause injuries and mortalities. These harmful effects are even more dangerous when secondary hazards (e.g. post-earthquake fires) emerge and it is commonly observed that the disasters/emergencies trigger secondary hazards. An effective indoor emergency guidance and navigation approach for occupants and first responders can decrease the number of injuries and mortalities during building emergencies b...
Identification and representation of information items required for vulnerability assessment and multi-hazard emergency response operations
Gökdemir, Nuray; Birgönül, Mustafa Talat; Department of Civil Engineering (2011)
Emergency response teams, need various internal information about facilities such as building usage type, number of floors, occupancy information, building contents and vulnerable locations in facility during and immediately after multi hazard emergencies. Accessing such information accurately and timely is very important in order to speed up the guidance of occupants in a facility that is under the effect of multi-hazards to safe exits and speed up the decision process of emergency response teams to identi...
On products of blocks of consecutive integers
Yıldız, Burak; Önsiper, Mustafa Hurşit; Gürel, Erhan; Department of Mathematics (2016)
In this thesis, an old conjecture of Erdös and Graham concerning integer squares obtained from products of disjoint blocks of consecutive integers is revisited. From arithmetic geometry point of view, the conjecture concerns the structure of integral points on certain projective hypersurfaces. These hypersurfaces are analyzed geometrically. The relation between the Erdös-Graham conjecture and some well-known conjectures in diophantine geometry and in number theory are explained. As for the computational asp...
