Recent Advances in Microwave Filter Design on Filpro

2018-11-02
Yıldırım, Nevzat
Development of the filter synthesis software Filpro were started about 30 years ago in DOS, Pascal. It had accumulated a vast amount of knowledge on filter synthesis and circuit transformations. It is still in DOS, hence not operating in new windows versions. Therefore it is no more available commercially. However it is still a very useful tool (on Win-98 or XP) which can cope with complex filter design problems. Some novel design approaches on Filpro will be presented in this talk and some design examples will be presented as separate papers in this session, all related to research works in Aselsan Military Ind.

Design of Selective Linear Phase Cross-Coupled Dielectric Resonator Filters
Ozturk, Onur Ozan; Oruc, Sacid; Alicioglu, Bulent; Yıldırım, Nevzat (2018-11-02)
In this paper, a highly selective linear phase filter is designed and implemented in cross-coupled form using dielectric resonators in Ku band to be used as a channel filter in IMUX of a satellite receiver. Extreme delay flatness is required: 1.5 nS delay ripple over 60 % of the passband and 12 nS near the band edges. The initial design is carried out as 10 resonator symmetric cross-coupled filter with all ideal inverter couplings realizing two finite transmission zeros (FTZ) satisfying also the delay flatn...
Design of Microstrip Quadruplet Filters on Filpro
Oruc, Sacid; Yıldırım, Nevzat (2018-11-02)
In this paper, a simple dimensional design procedure is developed for microstrip/stripline quadruplet filters by starting with direct BP synthesis of a lumped quadruplet with inverter couplings, K14, K12, K23 and K34. K14 is the cross-coupling inverter which creates a symmetric pair of finite transmission zeros (FTZ's) if the sign of K14 is opposite of the other inverters while a complex TZ is created if K14 has the same sign as the other inverters leading to linear phase (flat delay) responses. The LC reso...
Implementation of mesh generation algorithms
Yıldız, Özgür; Yüksel, Önder; Kuzuoğlu, Mustafa; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2001)
In this thesis, three mesh generation software packages have been developed and implemented. The first two were based on structured mesh generation algorithms and used to solve structured surface and volume mesh generation problems of three-dimensional domains. Structured mesh generation algorithms were based on the concept of isoparametric coordinates. In structured surface mesh generation software, quadrilateral mesh elements were generated for complex three-dimensional surfaces and these elements w...
Effects of parallel programming design patterns on the performance of multi-core processor based real time embedded systems
Kekeç, Burak; Bilgen, Semih; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2010)
Increasing usage of multi-core processors has led to their use in real time embedded systems (RTES). This entails high performance requirements which may not be easily met when software development follows traditional techniques long used for single processor systems. In this study, parallel programming design patterns especially developed and reported in the literature will be used to improve RTES implementations on multi-core systems. Specific performance parameters will be selected for assessment, and pe...
End-to-end learned image compression with normalizing flows for latent space enhancement
Yavuz, Fatih; Kamışlı, Fatih; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2022-9)
Learning based methods for image compression recently received considerable attention and demonstrated promising performance, surpassing many commonly used codecs. Architectures of learning based methodologies are typically comprised of a nonlinear analysis transform, which maps the input image to a latent representation, a synthesis transform that maps the quantized latent representation back to the image domain and a model for the probability distribution of the latent representation. Successful modelling...
