Sketch-Based Articulated 3D Shape Retrieval

2017-11-01
Sketch-based queries are a suitable and superior alternative to traditional text-and example-based queries for 3D shape retrieval. The authors developed an articulated 3D shape retrieval method that uses easy-to-obtain 2D sketches. It does not require 3D example models to initiate queries but achieves accuracy comparable to a state-of-the-art example-based 3D shape retrieval method.

Using object-oriented materialized views to answer selection-based complex queries
Alhajj, R; Polat, Faruk (1999-09-01)
Presented in this paper is a model that utilizes existing materialized views to handle a wide range of complex selection-based queries, including linear recursive queries. Such queries are complex because it is almost impossible for naive users to predict the formulation of their predicate expressions. Object variables bound to objects in the result of a query are allowed to appear in the predicate of that query. Also, the predicate definition is extended to make it possible to have in the output only a sub...
A Methodology to develop process ontology from organizational guidelines written in natural language
Gürbüz, Özge; Demirörs, Onur; Department of Information Systems (2017)
Integrating ontologies with process modeling improves data representations and makes it easier to query, store and reuse processes at the semantics level. Therefore, in recent years, this topic has become increasingly popular. The studies in the literature have proposed methods for the integration process either to relate domain ontologies to process models or to transform process models to process ontologies. Another way to establish the integration between ontologies and process models is to develop proce...
Matching words and pictures
Barnard, K; Duygulu, P; Forsyth, D; de Freitas, N; Blei, DM; Jordan, MI (Test accounts, 2003-08-15)
We present a new approach for modeling multi-modal data sets, focusing on the specific case of segmented images with associated text. Learning the joint distribution of image regions and words has many applications. We consider in detail predicting words associated with whole images (auto-annotation) and corresponding to particular image regions (region naming). Auto-annotation might help organize and access large collections of images. Region naming is a model of object recognition as a process of translat...
Multiobjective relational data warehouse design for the cloud
Dökeroğlu, Tansel; Coşar, Ahmet; Department of Computer Engineering (2014)
Conventional distributed DataWarehouse (DW) design techniques seek to assign data tables/fragments to a given static database hardware setting optimally. However; it is now possible to use elastic virtual resources provided by the Cloud environment, thus achieve reductions in both the execution time and the monetary cost of a DW system within predefined budget and response time constraints. Finding an optimal assignment plan for database tables to machines for this design problem is NP-Hard. Therefore, robu...
New design methods for polyhedral linkages
Kiper, Gökhan; Söylemez, Eres; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2006)
This thesis analyses the existing types of polyhedral linkages and presents new linkage types for resizing polyhedral shapes. First, the transformation characteristics, most specifically, magnification performances of existing polyhedral linkages are given. Then, methods for synthesizing single degree-of-freedom planar polygonal linkages are described. The polygonal linkages synthesized are used as faces of polyhedral linkages. Next, the derivation of some of the existing linkages using the method given is ...
