Functional evaluation of intraarticular severely comminuted fractures of the calcaneus with gait analysis
BOZKURT, Murat; Kentel, B. Behzat; Yavuzer, Gunes; Öçgüder, Ali; Heycan, Cengiz; Tönük, Ergin (Elsevier BV, 2004-11-01)
Twenty-one patients (23 feet) treated nonsurgically for severely comminuted intraarticular fractures of the calcaneus were evaluated prospectively with a clinical scoring scale and computerized gait analysis. All patients had Sanders type III and type IV fractures. The treatment protocol consisted of no closed reduction, immobilization in removable splint, physiotherapy after edema subsided, and weightbearing after 8 weeks. All patients had a minimum follow-up of 2 years (mean, 38 months). Clinical results ...
Functional analysis of fungal effector candidate ssp (small secreted protein) genes of septoria leaf blotch pathogen (zymoseptoria tritici) in wheat
Mustafa, Zemran; Akkaya, Mahinur S.; Ölmez, Fatih; Department of Biotechnology (2019)
Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is one of the main cereals sown world-wide. It constitutes a significant portion of daily calorie intake in many parts of the world. Despite lots of studies conducted over many years to increase the yield, there are significant losses in wheat production due to biotic and abiotic factors. Septoria tritici blotch is one of the most challenging disease among biotic stress factors. Septoria Leaf Blotch is one of the most important fungal disease in Turkey and the world, causing man...
Structural mapping and network analysis of patient-specific mutations in glioblastoma
Kaya, Tuğba; Tunçbağ, Nurcan; Doğan, Tunca; Department of Bioinformatics (2018)
Cancer is one of the most common cause of death worldwide. It occurs as a result of a collection of somatic deviations from normal state. Therefore, many efforts have been invested to profile mutations in different types of tumors; such as, the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) which deposits multiple omic data for more than 11,000 tumor samples. In this thesis, we present a pipeline which retrieves patient-specific mutation data in Glioblastoma from TCGA, maps these mutations on the protein structures in Protein ...
FUNCTIONAL NETWORKS OF ANATOMIC BRAIN REGIONS
Velioglu, Burak; Aksan, Emre; Onal, Itir; Firat, Orhan; Ozay, Mete; Yarman Vural, Fatoş Tunay (2014-08-20)
In this study, we propose a new approach to construct a two-level functional brain network. The nodes of the first-level network are the voxels of the functional Magnetic Resonance Images (tMRI) recorded during an object recognition task. The nodes of the network at the second-level are the anatomic regions of the brain. The arcs of the first level are estimated by a linear regression equation for the meshes formed around each voxel. Neighbors of each voxel are determined by using a functional similarity me...
Functional analysis of a mirna putatively involved in powdery mildew disease susceptibility in barley
Dağdaş, Gülay; Akkaya, Mahinur S.; Department of Biotechnology (2009)
Barley is one of the most important crop species in Turkey and powdery mildew is one of the most common pathogen decreasing yield in barley. For this problem, agricultural biologists apply breeding technologies in order to select and propagate resistant barley cultivars. However, this is not a permanent solution since pathogens evolve rapidly to overcome plant resistance mechanisms. On the other hand, molecular plant pathologists are trying to understand basic mechanisms underlying plant-pathogen interactio...
