In order to reveal the real intermediate in the base-promoted reaction of 1, 3-bromo-4,4-dideuterio-6,7-benaobicyclo[3.2.1]octa-2,6-diene 10 was synthesized and its HBr elimination reaction studied. Reaction of 10 with potassium tert-butoxide yielded butoxyl ether 18 in which proton-deuterium exchange has occured.

A theoretical study of the cycloaddition between cyclopentadiene and allylideneammonium cation: An AM1 study
Zora, Metin (2002-12-09)
The Diels-Alder reaction between cyclopentadiene and allylideneammonium cation has been studied by means of AMI semiempirical method. Allylideneammonium cation can add to cyclopentadiene via its either C=C or C=N bond. For each cycloaddition, four reactive channels have been characterized corresponding to the endo-s-trans, endo-s-cis, exo-s-trans and exo-s-cis approach modes. The results indicate that C=C bond of allylideneammonium cation is more reactive as dienophile than its C=N bond in reaction with cyc...
Studies towards green oxidation of alcohols with visible light
Akkaş, Kıvanç; Akdağ, Akın; Department of Chemistry (2014)
Conversion of alcohols to the corresponding carbonyl compounds is one of the key reactions in organic chemistry. For this, numerous methods have been developed. However, most of these methods produce environmentally hazardous waste. With this in mind, an environmentally benign method was attempted to be developed. The idea was borrowed from Dye Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC); electron relay mechanism in DSSC to be replaced with oxidation of alcohols. First, TiO2 as metal oxide and O2 as electron acceptor wer...
A facile synthesis of various butenolides
Tanyeli, Cihangir (Informa UK Limited, 2000-01-01)
The synthesis of alpha'-acyloxy-alpha,beta-unsaturated cyclic ketones from the corresponding alpha,beta-unsaturated cyclic ketones by using manganese (III) acetate in combination with 2-chloropropionic acid followed by subsequent Arbuzov and intramolecular Horner-Emmons cyclization reactions provided a convenient synthetic pathway to various butenolides 4a-d.
A pyrolysis mass spectrometry study of polythiophene copolymers
Aslan, Evren; Hacaloğlu, Jale; Toppare, Levent Kamil (2007-05-01)
The thermal behaviour of copolymers of thiophene with decanedioic acid bis-(2-thiophen-3-yl-ethyl)ester (DATE) and terephthalic acid his(2-thiophen-3-yl-ethyl)ester (TATE) prepared by potentiostatic polymerization was studied via pyrolysis mass spectrometry. It was determined that the electrolytic films correspond to the related homopolymers. The increase in thermal stability of ester linkages, and evolution of characteristic degradation products of TATE and DATE together with thiophene based products above...
A comparative study of electrocoagulation and coagulation of aqueous suspensions of kaolinite powders
Kilic, Mehtap Guelsuen; Hoşten, Çetin (2010-04-15)
Removal of kaolinite particles from their synthetically prepared suspensions was studied by electrocoagulation and coagulation to investigate the effect of such operating parameters as initial pH, coagulant dosage, applied voltage, current density, and time. Coagulation was more effective in a wider pH range (pH 5-8) than electrocoagulation which yielded optimum effectiveness in a relatively narrower pH range around 9, where, in both methods, these pH values corresponded to near-zero zeta potentials of kaol...
