Some peculiarities of nematic-isotropic liquid phase transitions in monomorphic and polymorphic mesogens
Nesrullajev, Arif; Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit; Saliholu, Selami; Kazanc, Nadide (Elsevier BV, 2002-10-03)
In this study, the dynamics of the changes of the morphological properties in the nematic mesophase and in the heterophase regions of the phase transitions between the nematic mesophase and the isotropic liquid for the thermotropic mesogens have been investigated. Experimentally, we have obtained the thermal hysteresis for the investigated phase transitions. For the analysis of the phase transition temperatures and the peculiarities of the heterophase regions, the mean field theory has been used.
Some optimal control problems in electric vehicles
Ahıska, Kenan; Leblebicioğlu, Mehmet Kemal; Özgören, Mustafa Kemal; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2016)
Conventional internal combustion engine-powered vehicles are the mainstream mean in nowadays private transportation. However, their fuel consumption results in environmental problems. Electric vehicles, on the other hand, have zero pollutant emission and benefit from high highly-efficient electric motor technology. These make the electric vehicles as the most promising alternative in private transportation. However, limitations in current battery technology aggravate the widespread usage of electric cars. T...
Some recursive relationships between acenes and cyclacenes
Türker, Burhan Lemi (1998-01-01)
Some structural relationships between acenes and cyclacenes both Huckel- and Mobius-type and within the same class of compounds were demonstrated by the recursive analysis of their E-pi and I-pi values or the first differences thereof. It was found that the first differences of E-pi and I-pi tend to have certain limit values as the number of benzenoid rings increases in each class of compounds studied.
Some Inequalities Between Pairs of Marginal and Joint Bayesian Lower Bounds
Bacharach, Lucien; Chaumette, Eric; Fritsche, Carsten; Orguner, Umut (2019-01-01)
In this paper, tightness relations (or inequalities) between Bayesian lower bounds (BLBs) on the mean-squared-error are derived which result from the marginalization of a joint probability density function (pdf) depending on both parameters of interest and extraneous or nuisance parameters. In particular, it is shown that for a large class of BLBs, the BLB derived from the marginal pdf is at least as tight as the corresponding BLB derived from the joint pdf. A Bayesian linear regression example is used to i...
