Results are presented from a study of jet production in ppBAR interactions with square-root s = 630 GeV at the CERN SppS-ColliderBAR, which are tagged by a proton or antiproton which possesses more than 90% of the incident beam momentum. The hard scattering which occurs between a parton in a beam particle and another in the soft residual component (pomeron-dominated) of the tagged proton allows the pomeron's partonic structure to be investigated. The observed jet distributions are in good agreement with expectations for hard parton-parton scattering in QCD. The pomeron exhibits a hard structure like 1 - x. However, there is an additional significant (30%) delta-function-like component, in which the entire momentum of the pomeron seems to participate in the hard scattering.

Evidence of b-Jet Quenching in PbPb Collisions at root S-NN=2.76 TeV
Chatrchyan, S.; et. al. (2014-09-01)
The production of jets associated to bottom quarks is measured for the first time in PbPb collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 2.76 TeV per nucleon pair. Jet spectra are reported in the transverse momentum (p(T)) range of 80-250 GeV/c, and within pseudorapidity vertical bar eta vertical bar < 2. The nuclear modification factor ( R-AA) calculated from these spectra shows a strong suppression in the b-jet yield in PbPb collisions relative to the yield observed in pp collisions at the same energy. The supp...
Measurement of D*(+/-) meson production in jets from pp collisions at root s=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector
Aad, G.; et. al. (2012-03-19)
This paper reports a measurement of D*(+/-) meson production in jets from proton- proton collisions at a center- of- mass energy of root s = 7 TeV at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The measurement is based on a data sample recorded with the ATLAS detector with an integrated luminosity of 0.30 pb(-1) for jets with transverse momentum between 25 and 70 GeV in the pseudorapidity range vertical bar eta vertical bar D-0 pi(+), D-0 -> K-pi(+), and its charge conjugate. The production rate is found to be N(D*(+/...
Study of W boson production in pPb collisions at root(NN)-N-S=5.02 TeV
Adam, W.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2015-11-01)
The first study of W boson production in pPb collisions is presented, for bosons decaying to a muon or electron, and a neutrino. The measurements are based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 34.6 nb(-1) at a nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energy of root(NN)-N-S = 5.02 TeV, collected by the CMS experiment. The W boson differential cross sections, lepton charge asymmetry, and forward-backward asymmetries are measured for leptons of transverse momentum exceeding 25 GeV/c, and as a fu...
Studies of jet quenching using isolated-photon plus jet correlations in PbPb and pp collisions at root s(NN)=2.76 TeV
Chatrchyan, S.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2013-01-01)
Results from the first study of isolated-photon + jet correlations in relativistic heavy ion collisions are reported. The analysis uses data from PbPb collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 2.76 TeV per nucleon pair corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 150 mu b(-1) recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC. For events containing an isolated photon with transverse momentum p(T)(gamma) > 60 GeV/c and an associated jet with p(T)(Jet) > 30 GeV/c, the photon + jet P-T imbalance is studied as a function...
Measurement of the production cross section for Z/gamma* in association with jets in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector
Aad, G.; et. al. (2012-02-28)
Results are presented on the production of jets of particles in association with a Z/gamma* boson, in proton-proton collisions at root s = 7 TeV with the ATLAS detector. The analysis includes the full 2010 data set, collected with a low rate of multiple proton-proton collisions in the accelerator, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb(-1). Inclusive jet cross sections in Z/gamma* events, with Z/gamma* decaying into electron or muon pairs, are measured for jets with transverse momentum p(T) > 30...
