Thermal and photobromination of naphthalene and derivatives have been studied. Several hexabromo- (12, 13, 16 and 17), and tetrabromotetralin derivatives (23, 24, and 25) have been obtained as the major products, besides bromonaphthalene derivatives. Base-promoted elimination reactions of 12, 13, 16 and 17 provided di- (8) tri- (10) and tetrabromo-naphthalenes (22). A convenient method was developed for the synthesis of 1,3-dibromonaphthalene (26) starting from (24). The structures of these products were determined by H-1-,C-13- NMR data and X-ray structural analysis.

Electrochemical behaviour and electrochemical polymerization of fluoro-substituted anilines
Cihaner, A; Önal, Ahmet Muhtar (2002-08-01)
The electrochemical behaviour of three fluoro-substituted aniline monomers, 2-fluoroaniline (2FAN), 3-fluoroaniline (3FAN) and 4-fluoroaniline (4FAN), was investigated in aqueous acidic and organic media by means of cyclic voltammetry (CV) studies. Constant potential electrolysis (CPE) of the monomers in acetonitrile-water mixture (1: 1 by volume) using NaClO4 as supporting electrolyte yielded soluble polymers. The mechanism of electrochemical polymerization was investigated using in situ electron spin reso...

Zeolites have many applications in the petrochemical and fine chemical industry and their functionalization does expand the spectrum of potentials. However, the integration of functional nanocrystals into zeolite frameworks with controlled size, dispersion, and crystallization behavior still remains a significant challenge. Here, a new synthesis of magnetic functioned ZSM-5 zeolite catalysts via a CoFe2O4 nanocrystal mediated crystallization strategy is reported. It is found that high crystallinity of CoFe2...
Salt, EDTA, and pH effects on rheological behavior of mold suspensions
Dik, Tunay; Bozoğlu, T. Faruk (Elsevier BV, 1992-11)
The effects of surface properties on the rheological behavior of Aspergillus niger suspensions were studied at pH 2-7, with the addition of 0-0.10 m NaH2PO4, NaCl, CaCl2, AlCl3, and EDTA at shear rates of 0-21.6 s-1. The structural network concept was used to discuss the consequences of cell-cell interactions on the rheological behavior. Analysis of the data indicated that the suspensions containing CaCl2 nearly always had the smallest shear stress at all the pH values, indicating that, unlike with the yeas...
Voltammetric methods of reboxetine analysis and the mechanism of its electrode reactions
Altunöz Erdoğan, Deniz; Erk, Nevin; Kilic, Esma (Walter de Gruyter GmbH, 2013-05-01)
Reboxetine (RBX) electrochemical redox behavior at hanging mercury drop (HMDE) and glassy carbon electrodes (GCE) was studied in various pH Britton-Robinson universal buffers using cyclic voltammetry and square-wave voltammetry. RBX was reduced at the HMDE and oxidized at the GCE with reversible adsorption controlled and irreversible diffusion controlled processes respectively. The anodic peak is due to the amine and the cathodic peak may correspond to oxygen protonation. An oxidation reaction mechanism is ...
Rheological properties of extruded dispersions of flaxseed-maize blend
WU, Min; Lİ, Dong; WANG, Li-Jun; Özkan, Necati; Mao, Zhi-Huai (2010-06-01)
Rheological properties of the extruded pastes of various extrusion conditions were investigated by dynamic oscillation and creep-recovery tests. Temperature sweep test showed that the starch gelatinization of non-extruded pastes took place at about 67 degrees C and no gelatinization was observed for the extruded sample. Frequency sweep tests could be represented by a Power law model and the samples showed gel-like behavior since storage modulus was much larger than loss modulus. The creep-recovery data were...
