Direction of arrival estimation in sensor arrays with faulty elements
Külbay, Tayfun; Tuncer, Temel Engin; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2020)
During the operational lifetime of a sensor array, certain sensors cease to operate properly. The identification of these sensors is an important problem. Furthermore, the operation of the array is continued even with the faulty sensors. Therefore, new techniques are required in order to ensure that the system estimation performance does not degrade significantly. In this thesis, two different fault types in a sensor array are considered. The first fault type is special to MEMS microphone arrays. MEMS micro...
Direction of arrival estimation by array interpolation in randomly distributed sensor arrays
Akyıldız, Işın; Tuncer, Temel Engin; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2006)
In this thesis, DOA estimation using array interpolation in randomly distributed sensor arrays is considered. Array interpolation is a technique in which a virtual array is obtained from the real array and the outputs of the virtual array, computed from the real array using a linear transformation, is used for direction of arrival estimation. The idea of array interpolation techniques is to make simplified and computationally less demanding high resolution direction finding methods applicable to the general...
Direction of arrival estimation for nonuniform linear arrays by using array interpolation
Tuncer, Temel Engin; Friedlander, B. (2007-07-03)
[1] A new approach is proposed for DOA estimation in nonuniform linear arrays (NLA) based on array interpolation. A Wiener formulation is presented to improve the condition number of the mapping matrix as well as the performance for noisy observations. Noniterative and iterative methods for DOA estimation are proposed. These methods use an initial DOA which is then significantly improved by the subsequent processing. Partially augmentable nonredundant arrays (PANA) and partly filled NLA (PFNLA) are consider...
Direction of arrival estimation algorithm with uniform linear and circular array
Caylar, Selcuk; Leblebicioğlu, Mehmet Kemal; Dural, Guelbin (2007-01-01)
In this paper mutual coupling effects on Modified Neural Multiple Source Tracking Algorithm (MN-MUST) has been studied. MN-MUST algorithm applied to the Uniform Circular Array (UCA) geometry for the first time. The validity of MN-MUST algorithm in the presence of mutual coupling has been proved for both Uniform Linear Array (ULA) and UCA. Simulation results of MN-MUST algorithm are provided for UCA for the first time. The presence of mutual coupling degraded the MN-MUST algorithm performed in the absence of...
Direction of Arrival estimation by using Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers in distributed sensor array networks
Nurbaş, Ekin; Tuncer, Temel Engin; Onat, Emrah; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2022-8-26)
In recent years, developments in microprocessor and wireless communication technologies have benefited a variety of distributed sensor network applications, including array signal processing. Researchers have been investigating distributed implementations of array signal processing algorithms, such as Direction of Arrival Estimation, for a variety of applications. Performance and practical implementations of those algorithms are affected by a variety of factors, such as inter-array phase and frequency match...
