Collisional damping widths of giant dipole excitations are calculated in Thomas-Fermi approximation by employing the microscopic in-medium cross-sections of Li and Machleidt and the phenomenological Gogny force. The results obtained in both calculations compare well, but account for about 25-35% of the observed widths in Sn-120 and (208)pb at finite temperatures. (C) 2000 Published by Elsevier Science B.V. Measurement of normalized differential t(t)over-bar cross sections in the dilepton channel from pp collisions at root s=13 TeV
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2018-04-01)
Normalized differential cross sections for top quark pair production are measured in the dilepton (e(+)e(-), mu(+)mu(-), and mu(-/+),e(+/-)) decay channels in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The measurements are performed with data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.1 fb(-1) using the CMS detector at the LHC. The cross sections are measured differentially as a function of the kinematic properties of the leptons, jets from bottom quark hadronization, top quarks, and...
Measurement of the differential cross-sections of inclusive, prompt and non-prompt J/psi production in proton-proton collisions at root s=7 TeV
Aad, G.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2011-09-21)
The inclusive production cross-section and fraction of mesons produced in B-hadron decays are measured in proton–proton collisions at with the ATLAS detector at the LHC, as a function of the transverse momentum and rapidity of the , using 2.3 pb−1 of integrated luminosity. The cross-section is measured from a minimum of 1 GeV to a maximum of 70 GeV and for rapidities within giving the widest reach of any measurement of production to date. The differential production cross-sections of prompt and non-pr...
Measurement of the cross section for electroweak production of Z gamma in association with two jets and constraints on anomalous quartic gauge couplings in proton-proton collisions at root s=8 TeV
Khachatryan, V.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2017-07-01)
A measurement is presented of the cross section for the electroweak production of a Z boson and a photon in association with two jets in proton-proton collisions at root s = 8 TeV. The Z bosons are identified through their decays to electron or muon pairs. The measurement is based on data collected with the CMS detector corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb(-1). The electroweak contribution has a significance of 3.0 standard deviations, and the measured fiducial cross section is 1.86(-0.75)(+...
Measurement of the Z boson differential cross section in transverse momentum and rapidity in proton-proton collisions at 8 TeV
Khachatryan, V.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2015-10-01)
We present a measurement of the Z boson differential cross section in rapidity and transverse momentum using a data sample of pp collision events at a centre-of-mass energy root s = 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb(-1). The Z boson is identified via its decay to a pair of muons. The measurement provides a precision test of quantum chromodynamics over a large region of phase space. In addition, due to the small experimental uncertainties in the measurement the data has the potentia...
Measurement of the single top quark and antiquark production cross sections in the t channel and their ratio in proton-proton collisions at root s=13 TeV
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2020-01-01)
Measurements of the cross sections for the production of single top quarks and antiquarks in the t channel, and their ratio, are presented for proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The data set used was recorded in 2016 by the CMS detector at the LHC and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1). Events with one muon or electron are selected, and different categories of jet and b jet multiplicity and multivariate discriminators are applied to separate the signal from th...
