Texture softening and strain instability in F.C.C. metals: Plane-strain deformation
Öztürk, Tayfur; Davies, Gwilym J. G (Elsevier BV, 1987-9)
An analysis was carried out into texture induced softening and the resulting strain instability in plane-strain deformation. A macroscopic model was employed in the analysis which viewed the deformation as the juxtaposition of suitably disposed positive and negative simple shears. With this model, the textural contribution to the rate of deformation hardening was computed in terms of a texture softening factor, S, this in a form that could readily be incorporated into the relevant conditions for strain inst...
Desulphurization characteristics of ladle furnace slags of a low sulphur steel
Keskinkilic, E.; Geveci, Ahmet; Topkaya, Yavuz Ali (2007-10-01)
In steelmaking, one of the most important parameters for desulphurization is the oxygen potential of the system which can be expressed either by oxygen activity of the steel or by FetO activity of the slag. Removal of sulphur from the steel is enhanced when FetO activity of the slag and thus oxygen activity of the steel decreases. In this paper, ladle furnace slags of a low S steel quality currently produced in Eregli Iron and Steel Works Company (ERDEMIR), Turkey, were studied. Activity coefficients of Fet...
