Study of final-state radiation in decays of Z bosons produced in pp collisions at 7 TeV
Khachatryan, V.; et. al. (2015-05-01)
The differential cross sections for the production of photons in Z -> mu(+)mu(-)gamma decays are presented as a function of the transverse energy of the photon and its separation from the nearest muon. The data for these measurements are collected with the CMS detector and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb(-1) of pp collisions at root s = 7 TeV delivered by the CERN LHC. The cross sections are compared to simulations with POWHEG and PYTHIA, where PYTHIA is used to simulate parton showers and ...
Consistency of the Born approximation for the spin-1/2 Aharonov-Bohm scattering
Boz, M; Pak, Namık Kemal (2000-08-15)
The relativistic scattering of a spin-1/2 particle from an infinitely long solenoid is considered in the framework of covariant perturbation theory. The first order term agrees with the corresponding term in the series expansion of the exact amplitude, and second order term vanishes, thus proving that the Born approximation is consistent.
Definition of the Riesz derivative and its application to space fractional quantum mechanics
Bayin, Selcuk S. (2016-12-01)
We investigate and compare different representations of the Riesz derivative, which plays an important role in anomalous diffusion and space fractional quantum mechanics. In particular, we show that a certain representation of the Riesz derivative, Rax, that is generally given as also valid for alpha = 1, behaves no differently than the other definition given in terms of its Fourier transform. In the light of this, we discuss the alpha -> 1 limit of the space fractional quantum mechanics and its consistency...
Identification of electromagnetic scattering mechanisms by two dimensional windowed fourier transform approach
Germeç, K. Egemen; Kuzuoğlu, Mustafa; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2004)
In this thesis, it is demonstrated that the two-dimensional Windowed Fourier Transform (WFT) can be effectively used to analyze the local spectral characteristics of electromagnetic scattering signals in the two-dimensional spatial frequency domain. The WFT is the extension of the Short Time Fourier Transform (STFT), which was originally derived to analyze the local spectral characteristics of one dimensional time functions. Since the WFT focuses on the local spectral behavior of the scattered field, the si...
Use of the reciprocal problems in electro-magnetic source imaging of the human brain
Gençer, Nevzat Güneri (2003-09-21)
In this work, solution of the Electro-magnetic source imaging forward problem is formulated using the reciprocity theorem. Lead field solutions for electrode potentials and sensor magnetic fields are computed for a realistic head model using the Finite Element Method. Potentials and magnetic fields obtained using the lead fields are compared to analytical solutions and direct numerical solutions. It is found that the accuracy of lead field based solution is comparable to the accuracy of direct numerical sol...
