Autonomous Shuttling Driven by an Oscillating Reaction: Proof of Principle in a Cucurbit[7]uril-Bodipy Pseudorotaxane
Buyukcakir, Onur; Yasar, F. Tuba; BOZDEMİR, Özgür Altan; Icli, Burcak; AKKAYA, Engin Umut (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2013-03-01)
A bipyridinium dication-substituted Bodipy fluorophore, with a terminal carboxylic acid function, provides two alternative stations for cucurbit[7]uril. Changing pH from basic to acidic results in shuttling of the cucurbit[7]uril from one station to another. In addition, this shuttling is accompanied by a change in the emissive properties of the Bodipy dye, which is only observed in the presence of cucurbit[7]uril. More striking, is a demonstration of autonomous shuttling of the pseudorotaxane system in an ...
Synthesis of Pyrrole-Fused C,N-Cyclic Azomethine Imines and Pyrazolopyrrolopyrazines: Analysis of Their Aromaticity Using Nucleus-Independent Chemical Shifts Values
Ozer, Merve Sinem; Menges, Nurettin; Keskin, Selbi; ŞAHİN, Ertan; Balcı, Metin (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2016-02-05)
The AgOTf-catalyzed reaction of C-2 substituted pyrrole hydrazones having an N-propargyl group was studied. The selective 6-endo-dig mode of cyclization was observed, giving rise to the formation of pyrrole-fused C,N-cyclic azomethine imine derivatives. The reaction of one azomethine imine derivative with various dipolarophiles resulted in the formation of cycloadducts having a pyrazolopyrrolopyrazine skeleton. The aromaticity of C,N-cyclic azomethine imines as well as that of pyrazolopyrrolopyrazines was d...
Effective PET and ICT switching of boradiazaindacene emission: A unimolecular, emission-mode, molecular half-subtractor with reconfigurable logic gates
Coskun, A; Deniz, E; Akkaya, EU (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2005-11-10)
We report a unimolecular system functioning as a combinatorial logic circuit for half-subtractor. The emission characteristics can be modulated by chemical inputs, and when followed at two different wavelengths, two functionally integrated logic gates XOR and INHIBIT are obtained. Both logic gates function in the emission mode, and with very large differences in the signal intensity allowing unequivocal assignment of logic-0 and logic-1.
A monostyryl-boradiazaindacene (BODIPY) derivative as colorimetric and fluorescent probe for cyanide ions
Ekmekci, Zeynep; Yılmaz, Mustafa Tuğrul; AKKAYA, Engin Umut (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2008-02-07)
We developed a novel boradiazaindacene derivative to detect cyanide ions in solution at micromolar concentrations. This structurally simple chemosensor displays a large decrease in emission intensity and a reversible color change from red to blue on contact with cyanide ions. Highly fluorescent polymeric films can be obtained by doping with the chemosensor. Such polymeric materials can be used for the sensing of the cyanide ions in polymer matrices.
Synthesis and alpha-Glucosidase and alpha-Amylase Inhibitory Activity Evaluation of Azido-and Aminocyclitols
Aydin, Gokay; Ally, Khamis; Aktas, Fatih; ŞAHİN, Ertan; BARAN, ARİF; Balcı, Metin (Wiley, 2014-11-01)
For the synthesis of some azido-and aminocyclitols, (3aRS, 7aSR)-1,3,3a,7a-tetrahydroisobenzofuran was used as the starting material. For further functionalization of the diene unit, the diene was subjected to epoxidation reactions to give mono-and bisepoxides depending on the amount of m-chloroperbenzoic acid used. The ring-opening of the epoxide functionality with NaN3 resulted in the formation of mono- and bisazido cyclitols. The tetrahydrofuran ring was opened in an acid-catalysed reaction with sulfamic...
