A method to synchronize the tandem dragline systems

An important problem associated with tandem dragline systems is that of matching the productive capability of individual draglines in the combination. In this paper, a dependence mechanism among draglines in a tandem system is described, and possible consequential problems in a poorly-matched system are defined. The rate of linear advance and the cost of stripping are determined as two major indications for an efficient operation. The proposed decision criteria and the underlying mechanism to select a synchronous couple are introduced and used in simulating tandem dragline systems. The developed model is tested on a hypothetical strip mine where pull-back stripping is applied with a tandem dragline system.

A branch and bound method for the line balancing problem in U-shaped assembly lines with equipment requirements
Ogan, Dilek; Azizoğlu, Meral (2015-07-01)
In this study we consider a U-shaped assembly line balancing problem where each task uses a specified set of equipments and each type of equipment has a specified cost. Our problem is to assign the tasks together with their equipments to the workstations so as to minimize the total equipment cost. We formulate the problem as a mixed integer linear programming model that is capable of solving small sized instances. We propose a branch and bound algorithm that uses efficient precedence relations and lower bou...
A Model Based Approach for Sensor Fault Detection in Civil Aircraft Control Surface
Sercekman, O.; Kutay, Ali Türker (2018-04-26)
A model-based fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) solution improves the capability in a civil aircraft control surface whereas having low complexity and computational requirements. The main objective of the FDD. techniques that are extensively applied in industrial systems is to increase the sensitivity of fault detection scheme while maintaining a reliable system response with respect to additional unknown inputs. In the paper, a reformative approach to an observer-based fault detection method is introduce...
An association rule mining model for the assessment of the correlations between the attributes of severe accidents
Ayhan, Bilal Umut; Dogan, Neset Berkay; Tokdemir, Onur Behzat (Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, 2020-01-01)
Identifying the correlations between the attributes of severe accidents could be vital to preventing them. If such relationships were known dynamically, it would be possible to take preventative actions against accidents. The paper aims to develop an analytical model that is adaptable for each type of data to create preventative measures that will be suitable for any computational systems. The present model collectively shows the relationships between the attributes in a coherent manner to avoid severe acci...
Design of a compliant mechanism to amplify the stroke of a piezoelectric stack actuator
Keskin, Tamer; Özgen, Gökhan Osman; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2013)
Main objective of this study is to design a compliant mechanism with high frequency and high mechanical amplification ratio to be used for amplifying the stroke of a piezostack actuator. In this thesis, first of all, related literature is investigated and then alternative conceptual designs are established utilizing the mechanisms found in literature survey. Once best conceptual design is selected, detailed design of this mechanism is done. For detailed design of the compliant mechanism, topology optimizati...
A statistical unified framework for rank-based multiple classifier decision combination
Saranlı, Afşar (2001-04-01)
This study presents a theoretical investigation of the rank-based multiple classifier decision combination problem, with the aim of providing a unified framework to understand a variety of such systems. The combination of the decisions of more than one classifiers with the aim of improving overall system performance is a concept of general interest in pattern recognition, as a viable alternative to designing a single sophisticated classifier. The problem of combining the classifier decisions in the raw form...
