Heterarchical shop floor control systems have had more attention than other forms of control systems over the last decade, as they promise modularity, robustness, fault-tolerance, maintainability, extendibility and cost-reduction. This paper presents design and implementation of an agent-based, heterarchical shop floor control system using an industrial framework, Windows-DNA. A model for adapting agent-based systems to the three-tier architecture of Window-DNA is proposed. The details of the design in each tier of the model are presented and the critical issues that should be considered for the ultimate harmony of an agent-based system with DNA are addressed. The designed system is implemented in an experimental manufacturing cell and example views of the human interfaces in action are presented.

A Control System Architecture for Control of Non-Affine in Control, Open-Loop Unstable Underactuated Systems
Marangoz, Alp; Kutay, Ali Türker (2017-07-25)
In this paper, a control system architecture for control of non-affine in control, open-loop unstable underactuated system is discussed. Passivization of the unactuated (internal) system dynamics achieved through perturbation of trajectories of the actuated states, which are calculated through adaptive dynamic inversion technique, based on Tikhonov's theorem. Performance of the controller is shown through simulation of two open-loop unstable and locally uncontrollable example problems.
Dflow workflow management system
Dengi, C; Neftci, S (1997-09-02)
Process specification, automatic recovery: concurrency control and heterogeneity among processing entities are known problems of workflow management systems. Dflow provides a workflow specification language which combines the expressive power of a structural programming language with the recovery capabilities of transaction systems. Dflow tries to solve the problems of automatic recovery in its model and the problems of concurrency control and heterogeneity in its architecture.
A Model based approach for aircraft sensor fault detection
Serçekman, Ömür; Kutay, Ali Türker; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2018)
This thesis presents a reformative approach to a model-based fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) method that improves the capability of aircraft flight control systems and acquires low complexity and computational requirements. The main objective of the FDD techniques that are extensively applied in industrial systems is to increase the sensitivity of fault detection scheme with respect to additional noise, uncertainty or disturbances. The designed fault detection model is integrated to a civil aircraft mod...
Design and implementation of a parallel computing system using MIL-STD-1553
Codur, Kemal Burak; Kiper, Ayşe; Department of Computer Engineering (2002)
In this thesis a parallel computing system using MIL-STD-1553 data bus interconnection network which is a military standard developed for aircraft applications and has some unique features that differs from commercial network standards is designed and implemented. The system is developed to satisfy the properties of the network and proposes a framework for design, coding and execution of parallel programs. Moreover it provides a user interface that issimilar to the interfaces of popular Message Passing Syst...
Evaluation of Security Information and Event Management Systems for Custom Security Visualization Generation
Sonmez, Ferda Ozdemir; Günel Kılıç, Banu (2018-12-04)
Security Information and Event Management Systems (SIEM) are generally very complex systems encapsulating a large number of functions with different behaviors. Visualization is a common way of data presentation in these systems along with other data presentation ways such as reporting, alerting, text messaging. However, generation of the visualization has different steps. If the data is in a custom format, rather than a predefined format which either obeys a standard or a known file structure, the generatio...
