A general analysis of polarization phenomena for coherent pion electroproduction on deuterons is presented. The spin and isospin structures of the gamma* + d --> d + P-0 amplitudes (where gamma* is a virtual photon) are established and relationships between meson electroproduction on deuterons and on nucleons are given in the framework of the impulse approximation. The reaction e + d --> e + d + pi(0) is investigated in detail, for a relatively large value of momentum transfer, 0.5 GeV2 less than or equal to -k(2) less than or equal to 2 GeV2, both at threshold and in the region of Delta-isobar excitation. Special attention is devoted to the sensitivity of different contributions to the exclusive cross section for d(e, epi(0))d, as the gamma*piomega form factor or the NN-potential. The predicted k(2)-dependence of the cross section agrees well with the available experimental data. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science (USA).

Forward energy flow, central charged-particle multiplicities, and pseudorapidity gaps in W and Z boson events from pp collisions at root s=7 TeV
Chatrchyan, S.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2012-01-01)
A study of forward energy flow and central charged-particle multiplicity in events with W and Z bosons decaying into leptons is presented. The analysis uses a sample of 7 TeV pp collisions, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb(-1), recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The observed forward energy depositions, their correlations, and the central charged-particle multiplicities are not well described by the available non-diffractive soft-hadron production models. A study of about 300 events...
Theoretical limits and safety considerations for magneto-acousto electrical tomography
Ghalichi, Elyar; Gençer, Nevzat Güneri; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2017)
In this study, the performance of Magneto-Acousto-Electrical Tomography (MAET) method is investigated quantitatively by considering interrelations between its sensitivity, resolution and conductivity contrast. An analytical solution for the forward problem of MAET is derived for two-dimensional (2D) concentric bodies by Separation of Variables Method. The electric potential and the acoustic pressure are separated to their angular and radial components. The series coefficients for these solutions are obtaine...
Transient and steady state photoelectronic analysis in TlInSe2 crystals
QASRAWI, ATEF FAYEZ HASAN; Hasanlı, Nızamı (Elsevier BV, 2011-08-01)
The temperature and illumination effects on the transient and steady state photoconductivities of TlInSe2 crystals have been studied. Namely, two recombination centres located at 234 and at 94 meV and one trap center located at 173 meV were determined from the temperature-dependent steady state and transient photoconductivities, respectively. The illumination dependence of photoconductivity indicated the domination of sublinear and supralinear recombination mechanisms above and below 160 K, respectively. Th...
Numerical and experimental investigation of tubeaxial fan noise
Bodur, Ahmet; Çalışkan, Mehmet; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2014)
In this study, the noise characteristic of a tube axial fan is investigated numerically and experimentally. The effects of blockage plate in front of the tube axial fan on the tube axial fan noise level are experimentally investigated. A computational aero-acoustic method is used to predict the flow induced fan noise. This method couples a flow solver and a wave equation solver. Unsteady flow analysis is performed with URANS (Unsteady Reynolds Average Navier Stokes Equation) method while acoustics radiation...
Uncertainty quantification of transient unsaturated seepage through embankment dams
Çalamak, Melih; Yanmaz, Ali Melih (American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), 2017-06-01)
Sensitivity analysis is conducted to investigate the effects of uncertainty in hydraulic conductivity and van Genuchten parameters on transient seepage. To this end, a random number generator is used to generate random values from probability distributions of each parameter. The generator is coupled with finite-element software that handles seepage analysis in porous media. The Monte Carlo simulation approach is adopted for stochastic seepage analyses. The suggested method is applied on a homogeneous dam ma...
