BLDC motors are one of the motor types rapidly gaining popularity. In recent years various researches have been done in the field of motor fault detection and fault tolerant control. However, in the case of rotor problems, especially rotor eccentricity tolerant control a few papers have been presented. Since in sensitive industries, continuous operation with good performance till the maintenance time is very important, operating in the desired condition in presence of this kind of fault is really advantageous. But conventional control methods in presence of eccentricity fault are inefficient. Because they generate phase currents with the same amplitudes and equality of currents and inequality of back-EMFs and phase inductance changes due to eccentricity, leads to intensive torque ripples. So, a new control strategy which can improve motor performance is desirable. In this paper an on-line control method based on Back-EMF estimation is proposed which can increase quality of operation by eliminating load torque pulsation considering rotor eccentricity.

ESTIMATION OF STATOR RESISTANCE OF INDUCTION MOTOR USING INNOVATION BASED ADAPTIVE EXTENDED KALMAN FILTER
Yırtar, Mehmet Zeki; Bostancı Özkan, Emine; Ertan, Hulusi Bülent; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2021-9-24)
In the industry, induction motors are widely utilized due to their low cost and low maintenance requirements. To get better performance from the motor, vector control (FOC) is introduced in the last decades. In this thesis, the software and hardware parameters that affect the performance of the vector-controlled induction motor will be investigated by simulations and experiments. PI controller design, axis decoupling, dc-link compensation and stator resistor estimation are implemented and simulated in Simul...
Influence of Phase Magnetic Couplings on Phase Current Characteristics of Multiphase BLDC Machines with Overlapping Phase Windings
Bostancı, Emine; Plikat, Robert (2015-09-01)
Multiphase brushless dc (BLDC) machines are implemented in electric and hybrid electric vehicle applications due to their high torque/power density, good fault tolerance capability, and low torque ripple. Moreover, the per-phase converter rating can be reduced by increasing the phase number. However, the number of magnetic couplings between phases increases with the phase number, and these magnetic couplings can have an important influence on the machine performance. Therefore, they need to be considered in...
Soft starting of large induction motors at constant current with minimised starting torque pulsations
Zenginobuz, G; Cadirci, I; Ermiş, Muammer; Barlak, C (2000-10-12)
The performance of a voltage-controlled, large induction motor soft starter has been improved, resulting in nearly perfect current and torque profiles. The performance analysis of the soft starter, motor - load combination has been carried out in dynamic state using a hybrid induction machine model which takes account of disconnected, two-phase and three-phase operational modes of the machine. Some simple control strategies have been proposed to keep the current constant at any preset value during starting,...

Optimization of PERC fabrication based on loss analysis in an industrially relevant environment: First results from GUNAM photovoltaic line (GPVL)
ES, FIRAT; SEMİZ, EMEL; Orhan, Efe; Genc, Ezgi; Kokbudak, Gamze; Baytemir, Gulsen; Turan, Raşit (Elsevier BV, 2020-02-01)
Passivated emitter and rear cell (PERC) concept with an already developed roadmap for 24% efficiency will be leading the photovoltaics industry in the upcoming years. In a few industrial pilot lines, efficiencies above 22% have already been attained. Pilot lines have important roles in bridging lab scale proven concepts with the products which are ready for mass production. Therefore, GUNAM Photovoltaic Line which is specialized on PERC concepts has been established to overcome the barriers that hinder the ...
