The type of distributed generation unit that is the subject of this article relates to renewable energy sources, especially wind power. The wind generator used is based on a double fed induction Generator (DFIG). The stator of the DFIG is connected directly to the network and the rotor is connected to the network through the power converter. The objective of this work is to study the association a Flywheel Energy Storage System (FESS) in wind generator. This system is used to improve the quality of electricity provided by wind generator. It is composed of a flywheel; an asynchronous machine has cage and a power electronic converter. The control of FESS proposed in this paper and velocity using a fuzzy logic controller is validated by simulations is compared with results obtained PI. The results are presented and discussed.

Analytical Modelling, Simulation and Comparative Study of Multi-Junction Solar Cells Efficiency
Hadjdida, Abdelkader; Bourahla, Mohamed; Ertan, Hulusi Bülent; Bekhti, Mohamed (2018-12-01)
Currently, solar energy is promising the primary source of renewable energy that has a great potential to generate power for an extremely low operating cost when compared to already existing power generation technologies. Increasing the efficiency of solar cells is a major goal and the prominent factor in photovoltaic system research. Current triple junction solar cells reach 30% and the next generation will bring 35% in 5 years to peak at 40%. These cells are used in space environment and in terrestrial sy...
Transient Stability Enhancement of the Power System Interconnected with Wind Farm Using Generalized Unified Power Flow Controller with Simplex Optimized Self-Tuning Fuzzy Damping Scheme
Vural, A. M.; Bayindir, K. C. (2012-07-01)
Due to increasing penetration of wind power into traditional grid, co-working of synchronous generators with wind turbines is gaining attention in terms of system stability. This paper deals with the transient stability enhancement of such systems by generalized unified power flow controller (GUPFC) having grid frequency switching quasi multi-pulse converters. Besides independent real and reactive power flow control capability of the two series converters, one series converter is commissioned to damp synchr...
Parameterization of built environment for wind resource assessment
Sakçak, Şafak; Tanyer, Ali Murat; Pekeriçli, Mehmet Koray; Department of Building Science in Architecture (2018)
Use of wind power for energy generation in urban areas is gaining importance considering the energy consumption and environmental impact behaviors of built environments. Therefore, assessment of urban wind resource is crucial. The study of air flows in cities is also related to other concerns as natural ventilation, air contamination and pedestrian comfort. Two of primary research topics proposed in feasibility studies for urban wind energy are improvement on the understanding of urban wind flows with devel...
Stochastic modelling of wind energy generation
Alişar, İbrahim; Sevaioğlu, Osman; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2012)
In this thesis work, electricty generation modeling of the wind energy -one type of the renewable energy sources- is studied. The wind energy characteristics and the distribution of wind speed in a specific region is also examined. In addition, the power curves of the wind turbines are introduced and the relationship between the wind speed and wind power is explained. The generation characteristics of the wind turbines from various types of producers are also investigated. In this study, the main wind power...
Improving the energy conversion stability of hybrid solar photovoltaic / wind turbine renewable energy systems
Aşçıoğlu, Berk; Batunlu, Canraş; Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2019-8)
In the last few years, renewable energy sources such as wind turbines, photovoltaics, hydropower stations etc. have become widespread because of raising energy needs of the world. Since the fossil fuel consumption excessively has increased, lack of energy has caused the renewable energy requirement. Furthermore, renewable energy has an important role because of the economic and environmental worries. In other words, industrial and inhabitant needs by provided the traditional energy is no longer a successful...
