Switched Reluctance Machine is applied for many industry applications because it has simple structure, high variable speed range. This paper is proposed a novel three phase 6/4 two layer field-assisted Switched Reluctance Generator (SRG). This generator consists of two magnetically dependent stator and rotor sets. The magnetostatic analysis includes mathematical and simulation analysis using Finite Element Method (FEM) is carried out in this study.

Numerical Modelling and Experimental Analysis of Vibratory and Acoustics Behaviours of a Special Design Squirrel-Cage Three-Phase Asynchronous Machine
Ionescu, R. M.; Negoita, A.; N'Diaye, A.; Torregrossa, D.; Djerdir, A.; Miraoui, A.; Scutaru, Gh. (2011-09-10)
The paper presents a comparison between the obtained results from testing a special design 5 kW squirrel-cage three-phase asynchronous machine and the numerical model of the same machine, simulated under the FLUX2D Finite Element Software. The aim is to validate the numerical model in the loaded and unloaded cases. The resulting model will be used for further research into the vibratory behaviour and noise of the motor. In this paper, an experimental approach is used to show the influence of load on motor v...
Performance Calculation of SR Motors for Optimum Design and a Washing Machine Application
Ertan, Hulusi Bülent (2008-09-09)
This paper aims to develop an approach for performance calculation of an SR motor, which is suitable for use within mathematical design optimization. For this reason the requirement is to develop procedures, which are both accurate and fast. The procedures adopted here rely on flux-linkage-current-position curves of the motor. A series of tests are carried out on a test motor. The results are compared with estimations from the developed algorithms. It is shown that the current waveform, torque-speed curve, ...
Usability evaluation of dynamic geometry software through eye tracking and communication breakdown analysis
Yağmur, Serap; Çakır, Murat Perit; Department of Information Systems (2014)
The use of information technology in mathematics education has become popular due to the increasing availability of software applications designed for constructing mathematical representations. In this study, we conducted a usability evaluation of GeoGebra, which is a commonly used math education tool that provides dynamic geometry, spreadsheet and algebra features. The study consists of three usability experiments. In the first experiment, an eye tracking study was conducted where individual participants p...
An Efficient Implementation of Online Model Predictive Control with Practical Industrial Applications
Arpacık, Okan; Ankaralı, Mustafa Mert; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2021-8)
The demand to utilize modern control algorithms for industrial applications is much more intensive. Model-predictive-controller (MPC), which is one of the modern optimal control policies, has gained more attention in servo drive and other industrial applications in recent years due to increased computational capabilities of embedded platforms and evident control performance benefits compared to more classical control methods. A digital MPC algorithm at each sampling instant produces the optimal control inpu...
Mechanical characterization of additively manufactured Ti-6Al-4V aircraft structural components produced by electron beam melting
Yılmaz, Fatih; Şahin, Melin; Gürses, Ercan; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2022-8-25)
Weight reduction of structural parts is one of the most important efforts of design and analysis studies to improve fuel efficiency and flight performance of aerospace vehicles through topology optimization creating complex geometric designs that are lighter but cannot be produced via conventional manufacturing methods. Instead, the manufacturing of the resulting designs is possible with additive manufacturing methods where the final product is obtained by adding layer upon layer to obtain close to the near...
