This paper presents the phase formations and magnetic properties of Co-doped TiO2 synthesized by the colloidal and ammonium nitrate melt techniques (ANMT). The phase formations and ferromagnetic properties were studied with XRD and SQUID magnetometry. Crystallization of the TiO2 rutile lattice was completed at 1000 degrees C and that was preserved during annealing up to 1300 degrees C. For the samples annealed at 1200 degrees C, elemental analysis has shown that the colloidal technique leads to a single-phase rutile with cobalt concentration of almost nothing even in the initially 0.5 mol Co-added samples. Further increase of annealing temperature results in the appearance of other Ti-phases in addition to the rutile. On the other hand, it is quite interesting that these samples show ferromagnetic behavior. The samples synthesized by the ANMT method contain larger amounts of Co compared to the colloidal technique.

Modeling of Magnetic Properties of Nanocrystalline La-doped Barium Hexaferrite
KÜÇÜK, İLKER; Sozeri, Huseyin; Ozkan, Husnu (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2011-05-01)
In this paper an artificial neural network (ANN) has been developed to compute the magnetization of the pure and La-doped barium ferrite powders synthesized in ammonium nitrate melt. The input parameters were: the Fe/Ba ratio, La content, sintering temperature, HCl washing and applied magnetic field. A total of 8284 input data set from currently measured 35 different samples with different Fe/Ba ratios, La contents and washed or not washed in HCl were available. These data were used in the training set for ...
Kinetics of fcc-Al nanocrystallization in Al90Tb10 metallic glass
DEMIRTAS, T.; Kalay, Yunus Eren (Elsevier BV, 2013-10-15)
The crystallization kinetics of Al90Tb10 amorphous alloy were investigated by a combined study of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Cu-K alpha X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses and microhardness measurements. Amorphous to fcc-Al transformation kinetics were descried through Johnson-Mehl-Avrami OMA) approach based on the isothermal DSC hold at 220 degrees C. XRD and TEM revealed the formation of highly populated (similar to 10(21) m(-3)) fcc-Al nanocrystals after...
Determination of the influence of TiO2 on the elastic properties of a mica based glass ceramic by ultrasonic velocity measurements
Gür, Cemil Hakan; Öztürk, Abdullah (Elsevier BV, 2005-11-15)
The influence of small amount (1 or 2 wt%) of TiO2 additions and crystallization heat treatment on the elastic properties of a mica based glass ceramic have been investigated by ultrasonic velocity measurements. The mica based glass ceramic was prepared through controlled crystallization of a glass in the SiO2, Al2O3, CaO, MgO, K2O and F system. Evidences of TiO2 acting as a nucleating agent in this system was demonstrated. The longitudinal and transversal wave velocities of the as-prepared glass and the mi...

A new polythiophene derivative was synthesized by both chemical and electrochemical oxidative polymerization of 1-(perfluorophenyl)-2,5-di(2-thienyl)-1H-pyrrole (FPTPy). The structures of both the monomer and the soluble polymer were elucidated by nuclear magnetic resonance (H-1-NMR) and fourier transform infrared (FTIR). Polymer of FPTPy was also synthesized via potentiostatic electrochemical polymerization in acetonitrile (AN)/NaClO4/LiClO4 (0.1 M:0.1 M) Solvent-electrolyte couple. Characterizations of th...
Initial crystallization in a nanostructured Al-Sm rare earth alloy
Kalay, Yunus Eren; Chumbley, L. S.; Kramer, M. J.; Anderson, I. E. (Elsevier BV, 2010-06-15)
The transformation kinetics and microstructural evolution during initial crystallization in highly driven Al(90)Sm(10) were investigated using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). conventional Cu K(alpha) and high-energy synchrotron X-ray diffraction (HEXRD) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The highest cooling rate obtained in this study yielded a high number density of fcc-Al nanocrystals, with sizes on the order of 2-5 nm, embedded in a disordered matrix rich in an Al-Sm medium range order ...
