Effects of Local Low-Dose Alendronate Injections Into the Distraction Gap on New Bone Formation and Distraction Rate on Distraction Osteogenesis
Alp, Yunus Emre; Taskaldiran, Alper; Onder, Mustafa Ercument; KARAHAN, SİYAMİ; KOÇYİĞİT, İSMAİL DORUK; ATIL, FETHİ; TEKİN, UMUT (Ovid Technologies (Wolters Kluwer Health), 2017-11-01)
Bisphosphonates that constrain bone resorption have a direct effect on osteoclast function. In this experimental study, the effects of low-dose local alendronate injections on the distraction gap (DG) in rabbit mandible at 2 different rates were evaluated.
Investigation of surface structure and biocompatibility of chitosan-coated zirconia and alumina dental abutments
Kalyoncuoglu, Ulku Tugba; Yilmaz, Bengi; Koc, Serap Gungor; Evis, Zafer; ARPACI, PEMBEGÜL UYAR; Kansu, Gulay (Wiley, 2018-12-01)
Background: For long-term success of dental implants, it is essential to maintain the health of the surrounding soft tissue barrier, which protects the bone-implant interface from the microorganisms. Although implants based on titanium and its alloys still dominate the dental implant market, alumina (Al2O3) and zirconia (ZrO2) implant systems are widely used in the area. However, they provide smooth and bioinert surfaces in the transmucosal region, which poorly integrate with the surrounding tissues.
Meta-analysis of prognostic factors for amputation following surgical repair of lower extremity vascular trauma
Perkins, Z. B.; Yet, Barbaros; Glasgow, S.; Cole, E.; Marsh, W.; Brohi, K.; Rasmussen, T. E.; Tai, N. R. M. (Wiley, 2015-04-01)
Background: Lower extremity vascular trauma (LEVT) is a major cause of amputation. A clear understanding of prognostic factors for amputation is important to inform surgical decision-making, patient counselling and risk stratification. The aim was to develop an understanding of prognostic factors for amputation following surgical repair of LEVT.
EFFECT OF GLASS IONOMER LINERS ON BONDING STRENGTH OF LAMINATE VENEERS
KEDICI, PS; KALIPCILAR, B; BILIR, OG (Elsevier BV, 1992-07-01)
This study compared shear bond strengths of porcelain laminate veneers, fabricated on refractory dies, which were lengthened incisally by 0.5 mm. Specimens were divided into four separate groups. In group A, the teeth were reduced 0.5 mm and the bonding was to enamel. The teeth of the remaining groups were reduced 1.0 mm and the bonding was to dentin. For two of the groups glass ionomer liners were applied before etching. Bonding to enamel was best, with cohesive fractures in porcelain. In the other groups,...
Effect of MgF2 on hot pressed hydroxylapatite and monoclinic zirconia composites
Evis, Zafer (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2007-06-01)
Hydroxylapatite (HA) has been widely used in biomedical applications because of its excellent biocompatibility in the human body. A total of 25 wt% monoclinic (m) zirconia-HA composites (with and without 5 wt% MgF2) were synthesized to investigate their mechanical properties and phase stability. In HA-m-ZrO2 composites, HA and m-ZrO2 reacted to form CaZrO3 when there was no F- present in the composite and M-ZrO2 partially transformed to tetragonal ZrO2. When MgF2 was added into the system, it improved the t...
